Time and again, we have read stories upon stories.
One mistake a lot of us make is to always go with the mentality of "exceptions".
If you go by that mentality, you may not be fortunate.
Take charge of your destiny as men & women & realize that when it comes to choosing a
Years back, my wife would call me names because I was unable to provide enough for the family.
I understood her pain then, because I knew things were not easy for her too.
But heaven knows that I was trying my best.
She was a teacher then, in one of the schools close to our house.
Because of that, she had the privilege of making sure our children were not out of school.
But she always complained that almost all her salary was being used for the children's school fees, and she was only being paid peanuts.
Because of that frustration, whenever she thought about it, she would fly up and start saying a lot of things to me.
One thing I won't forget is that whenever she came home and met me at home, she would say, "Even if you're not going to work, you can go out and look for something to do."
Then I would tell her that I'm not the type that goes around the street because I hardly have friends, I don't drink, and I don't do all those things.
So if I have nothing to do outside, I see no reason to just go out.
She would talk to me, and sometimes I would start crying like a baby. 🤣
But I would still console her and tell her that I might still be the one to pay our children's school fees from secondary school all the way to the university level.
I even made a strong confession that I might still send them to private universities because they are all girls, and I know how government universities can sometimes slow down a child's journey.
The funny part is that during all those years, I didn't have anything to show for those words.
I was just depending on God and believing that somehow, things would change.
And today, the story has completely changed.
The two children are now in private universities, while the others are in private secondary schools.
I'm now the breadwinner, and my wife praises me almost every day.
She now sees me as her small God. 😂
Let me burst your brain again. You remember I told you she used to tell me to go out, even when I had nothing to do outside?
Today, the story has changed.
Now, whenever I'm going out for my daily bread like this, she will frown as if I shouldn't go anywhere.
You will hear her saying, "I don't want anybody to snatch my husband ooo." 😂
And today, she's a full time housewife, with daily money that is more than the monthly salary she was earning when she was teaching. 🤣
This is why I always tell people that you should be careful about judging a marriage by one difficult season or what your spouse say to you.
There are seasons when things will be extremely hard.
There are seasons when two people who genuinely love each other may say things they don't mean because of frustration, pressure, and lack of money.
But that doesn't make the words right, but it also doesn't necessarily mean the marriage is finished.
Sometimes, what a family needs is time, patience, understanding, prayer, and two people who are willing to keep fighting for the family even when things are not working yet.
I look back today and realise that if we had both allowed those difficult years to define our marriage, we might not be enjoying what we have today.
So marriage can be tough at the beginning, but that doesn't mean it will end like that.
You young men should learn from this and don't be too quick to conclude that your marriage won't work out simply because things are hard today.
Some seasons are only preparing you for the testimony you will eventually tell tomorrow.
Something to think about.
I have been privileged to work across over 20 countries including the United States and UK as a Gen Z. In many rooms I have been in, I was the youngest person.
So I can tell you, the greatest skill you need in your corner is not your certificate, but the ability to work across cultures and systems.
The fact that the 76-year old CEO in my workplace 3 streets away from the White House asked me to call him by his first name Damon doesn’t mean I should come back to Nigeria and call Dr. Oby Ezekwesili by her first name.
It’s lack of social intelligence. When you are in Rome, you behave like a Roman. Adapt quickly or be left behind.
This is bigger than school fees. There is something happening to education in Nigeria that we really need to pay attention to.
Many of our parents were not rich.
Yet, they could send their children to decent public or government-supported schools. Those schools had laboratories, libraries, teachers and facilities good enough to produce doctors, engineers, professors and other professionals.
Today, many parents don't even consider public schools when looking for “quality education.” The first question is usually: Which private school can I afford?
That should worry us.
Nigeria's own 2024/2025 education data shows that about 79% of the learners captured are still in public schools. In other words, public education is still where the majority of Nigerian children are being educated.
Now think about what happens if the quality of public education continues to decline while good private education becomes increasingly expensive.
We gradually create two Nigerias.
One where children whose parents have money get better schools, better technology, better exposure and eventually better opportunities.
And another where the child of the struggling Nigerian receives whatever education his parents can afford.
It gets even more frightening when you look at the numbers. UNICEF has reported that 70% of Nigerian 10-year-olds cannot read a simple sentence, while millions of children are already outside the school system entirely.
So what could the next 10–20 years look like if we don't change direction?
Quality education may increasingly become something you buy, rather than something citizenship reasonably guarantees you access to.
The wealthy will pay for good private schools, technology, international examinations and foreign universities.
The middle class will spend an increasing percentage of their income trying to keep up.
And the poor?
Many of their children may simply be left behind.
That is how inequality becomes generational.
Because the child of a poor man is not less intelligent than the child of a rich man. Sometimes, the difference between their futures is simply the quality of the classroom each one was born into.
This is why fixing public education is not charity.
It is nation building.
A Nigerian should be able to lose his job without immediately becoming afraid that his children will also lose access to quality education.
When good education becomes a luxury, poverty stops being just about how much your parents earn.
It starts determining how far their children are allowed to dream.
A country where citizens now generate their own source of power for their every day living and business is never a good sign of progress.
Citizens are now doing the job of govt.
ASO ROCK...the country's seat of power is also running on solar
We still have not grasp the level of rot & neglect facing us.
You pointed out, 2 weeks ago that generator sellers are almost out of business.
And you asked if people have switched over to alternate power source?
Our kids who went to Rome for the STEM finals had no govt backing & presence while other kids had govt representative there with them.
Like in nollywoods voice...THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING
Depression doesn't discriminate.
Infact, wealthy people suffer genuine depression, more.
They always on their toes, trust less and sometimes, live a socially isolated life.
Sometimes, they lose the intrinsic meaning of their lives and are consumed by fake love from people.
My former neighbour bought our compound for ₦75 million.
He lived downstairs in the only self-contained apartment in the building. He didn't look rich, and sometimes he even delayed paying his rent.
When our landlord put the house up for sale, he made the highest bid out of all the buyers.
Our landlord didn't believe he was serious until he handed over the cheque and the money cleared.
After the payment was confirmed and the documents were signed, he became our new landlord, while the former landlord became his tenant.
Four months later, the former landlord forfeited the remaining eight months of his rent and moved out.
@jon_d_doe Well is not expected that an outcast should be happy with the people that casted him away...
Women were made from the ribs of a man, so that part of a man that was given away should always be rebellious towards it's original source.
Who saw that video on Facebook?
A pastor linked a lady up with a guy abroad for marriage. Along the line, the guy sent the lady money to give the pastor to appreciate him for connecting both of them. She didn't give the pastor the money. When the man found out and asked her why, she said that she had better things to do with money. That was how the man blocked her without even saying anything further and asked the pastor to connect him to a decent lady who is not an entitled id.iot.
Now, whether this really happened or not, some women here are like this. Continue shooting yourself on the foot and thinking it's being woke or smart. Your eye go peel. You go cry pass he-goat. Na me tell you. Remember say I no go lie for you. 🚶
Old days in Igboland, this is means of communication. It means I came to your compound but I found no one. Seeing this, the owner of the compound will know he missed a visitor.
One experience during my surgery yesterday changed the way I think about life… and death.
While I was under anesthesia, there was… nothing.
No pain. No dreams. No thoughts. No awareness. No sense of time.
I didn’t know I had a wife. I didn’t remember my children.
I wasn’t thinking about my bank account, my businesses, or my unfinished plans. The RadioCom App, my baby project, was not remembered
My phone was with my wife, responding to important messages on my behalf.
Then I woke up.
That night, as pain kept me awake, one thought wouldn’t leave me:
One day, that temporary experience will become permanent for every one of us.
Surprisingly, it didn’t fill me with fear.
It gave me perspective.
It reminded me that we spend so much of life worrying about things we won’t even be aware of when we’re gone.
The Bible describes death as a state in which “the dead know nothing” (Ecclesiastes 9:5).
For me, that experience made those words feel deeply real. It also reminded me of something even more important:
While we are alive, love deeply. Forgive quickly. Be kind generously.
Because one day, all that will remain of us is the good or bad we left behind. ❤️
Think about that!
The reason I relate well with people of all classes and financial background is that, I've since understood that money is just a tool. It does not represent or define our humanity. I figured this out as a child. It is not late for you to come to terms.
Everyone has their reason for wanting to be rich. I'm a simple man. I just want to leave a legacy of giving people a better life than the one they had before I met them - with primary focus on education and health care.
If I make the kind of money I'm looking for, I'll add foreign masters to it. Good education is the only way to create a mental shift, give dignity to people, give people options, and a chance to compete for their place in this world. A perfect weapon to build a country
Overtime in marriage, I have noticed something. When a man pours out his heart, let's say, his financial inabilities on a woman, she takes it all in at first and does the naturally expected, which is to pray, embark on a fast, cut down expenses and take up responsibilities till he is able to pick up again.
If the situation persists or you always fall in there and you pour your hearts out again and again, you begin to seem, to her, like you are enjoying that she is taking up space and you're relaxing. When she starts to feel that way, she begins to see you are not useful to her and gradually resentment start to build.
I have seen women, in their gatherings, speak derogatorily about their husbands because he's been down too long and she's been holding up too long, as well. They don't hate him, he just now irritates them. As a man, study your wife and know what to tell her but don't get too comfortable telling her everything.
@oku_yungx@oku_yungx This is the mindset.
Comfort without guilt hits different.
Contentment with integrity.
May we all get there without losing ourselves.
Amen 🙏
When influential people offer to help, don't always ask for Money.
Instead,
Ask for access.
Ask for an introduction.
Ask for an opportunity.
Ask for a seat in the room.
Ask them to put you on.
Money will solve your problem today.
Access can transform your life.
SOME TRUTHS EVERY WOMAN NEEDS TO KNOW.
1. There is no reward for being a good girl.
2. Don’t forget that they can use you to wait for the right person.
3. Even on a free table, eat what you can afford to pay for.
4. No matter how strong you think you are as a woman, you still need a man sometimes.
5. Have an actual relationship with God. Know HIM for yourself.
6. The man you want , exists. You just have to work harder to become the woman the man wants too.
