🇷🇴Corneliu Coposu (1914–1995) a fost un important om politic român, simbol al rezistenței anticomuniste și al luptei pentru democrație în România postbelică. A fost liderul Partidului Național Țărănesc Creștin Democrat (PNȚCD) după 1989 și o figură morală marcantă a tranziției României către democrație.

Biografie pe scurt:

•Născut: 20 mai 1914, Bobota, județul Sălaj
•Decedat: 11 noiembrie 1995,
București

Activitate politică:

A fost apropiat al lui Iuliu Maniu, mare lider al PNȚ, fiind secretar personal al acestuia.
După instaurarea regimului comunist, Coposu a fost arestat în 1947 în contextul „procesului Maniu” și a petrecut 17 ani în închisoare, majoritatea în regim sever, fără condamnare oficială până în 1956.
După eliberare, a fost supravegheat constant de Securitate.

După 1989:
•Imediat după Revoluție, a reînființat PNȚ sub denumirea de Partidul Național Țărănesc Creștin Democrat (PNȚCD).
•A fost una dintre vocile cele mai ferme împotriva regimului postcomunist condus de Ion Iliescu și FSN.
•În 1991, a devenit președinte al Convenției Democratice din România, o coaliție de partide de opoziție.
•A fost ales senator în 1992 și a rămas o figură respectată pentru integritatea și consecvența sa morală.

Moștenire:

Corneliu Coposu este considerat un simbol al demnității, curajului și rezistenței în fața dictaturii comuniste. După moartea sa, a fost omagiat de societatea civilă și de majoritatea forțelor politice democratice. Mai multe străzi, piețe și instituții din România îi poartă numele.
