@ArvD @HG2G_Covers@internetarchive Was going to followup with "a few years ago..." but it turns out to be six and a half!
Six and a half years ago, I trawled my local video saves and generated a link dump to them all: https://t.co/glhyclh7KD
@ArvD @HG2G_Covers@internetarchive Also on youtube: https://t.co/cL4qj7QvCG
(I think Roy and HG are retired now, chances are copyright of this is with Channel Nine Australia)
(I also save things locally, though I very much get the impression that @HG2G_Covers has more than my stash. Prob better organised too!)
13 years ago today, the pilot episode of #DirkGently aired for the first time. @nemothorx, Louie and myself watched it and made a commentary track, which you can watch highlights of here: https://t.co/2DV210lNUd
@jonal665@itsdrcheese@qikipedia Sure, but it's the actual relevant one since it is in fact the highest point on Australia - the continent. Assuming continent is reasonable since the original statement was in a geographic context.
@itsdrcheese@jonal665@qikipedia Agreed it wasn't stated. But since it's true one way I think that's pretty clearly the way it was intended.
You are in Australia the country, not Australia the continent. Did you think that was a trick question?
@monkeybob578@IlyichValken@helloNikoheart@Hel_Fiber the ability for a link to display different text to the URL it points to is a standard web feature since day one. The "different text" can be a different URL.
What is being described isn't just discord. It's the web.
@PeterJFilipovic@mars1303@MediaAnalystOz I don't think bicameral is inherently bad. The one we have is arguably pretty fine.
I don't think unicameral is inherently good. QLD is unicameral but bad - it's just a bicameral design broken in half.
I do think a good unicameral system is better than a good bicameral system
@PeterJFilipovic@mars1303@MediaAnalystOz Two chambers with the same method of populating them is wasteful duplication. Two chambers populated in different ways - as we have, at least provides a check/balance. Arguable quality, but at least our Senate's PR is world class.
I want that PR at the govt level.
@mars1303@MediaAnalystOz (Followup - Personally I think if we want to improve our system, the voting isn't the biggest target, but the two-chambers of parliament is. A single chamber populated via MMPR would be better (like NZ does), but I think (unsure) we'd need a referendum to switch to it)
@mars1303@MediaAnalystOz It's impossible to have a voting system which can't have seemingly-illogical results under some circumstances. Best we can do is minimise the chance of those weird illogical results. Preferential is one of the best and fairest available
@David30813@AntonyGreenElec Votes are public information. Download the spreadsheets, understand how the different counting mechanisms work, and run the numbers yourself if you're that paranoid.
I expect once you nail the "understanding different systems" you'll stop thinking preferential is evil.
@LanceFormston And there remains multiple parties. The westminster system of parliament is inherently adverserial - competitive.
Competition doesn't mean everyone gets a turn at the top. ...or are you suggesting the LNP should sometimes win as a participation trophy?
@johnmaddox So 3 month in. I think my most likely prediction is showing. User base is down, Twitter reputation is down. As is musk’s personal reputation. Site is increasingly buggy.
Do you interpret differently? Are you willingly accepting the milk? 😬

@DannyDangerOz@SoozUK An observation I heard not too long ago has stuck with me - showing mercy is not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength, because it’s literally only possible to show it from a position of strength!
