CoinShares: Professional Bitcoin Holdings Fell to 261K BTC in Q1, With Hedge Funds and Brokers Driving 95% of the Reduction
According to CoinShares' 13F analysis, professional investors' Bitcoin holdings fell from 313K BTC to 261K BTC in Q1 2026, a 17% quarter-on-quarter decline. 13F filers reduced their exposure by about 52.5K BTC, with hedge funds and brokerages accounting for roughly 95% of the reduction; hedge fund holdings fell 39%, while broker holdings declined 53%. By contrast, banks increased their total holdings to 15.2K BTC, with JPMorgan and Wells Fargo adding exposure and Citi disclosing its first BTC position.
