@lowerdelaware@the_transit_guy What the fuck are you talking about, what soft material would that be, the kids using the sidewalk? The trees are partially to stop cars from hitting pedestrians
@zoi716 Hey aerospace eng here, I made a rig like this in undergrad to investigate downbursts! You should DM me I have questions about your approach (yours looks way better than mine)
@TokenOfTheMonth Had an internship with Boeing years ago, the common saying on the team was "hey we just support the bomber platform, not the bombs..."
@MrGemezl This would be really cool, good way to add new capabilities for ranged weapons too, would be satisfying to snipe an enemy on a different level
Bush's so-called "war on terror" designated entire regions & groups of people as "killable." This is the function of the word "terrorist"—a hollow word which means only "killable." Obama's expansion of the drone program made the killing more nimble/diffuse—this is the outcome
@DavidShelton52@Librarianook83@adam_talkshow@AdamFriedland@RitchieTorres he blocked me lmao, idk why i wasted my time but I (stupidly) thought I might learn how someone can have that viewpoint and be able to explain it without either a logical contradiction or switching values every 30 seconds
@Librarianook83@adam_talkshow@AdamFriedland@RitchieTorres Even the best attempt to justify would be that the IDF HQ "isn't intended to be a shield", but then you'd have to extend the same generosity to Hamas, who definitely DON'T have the freedom of location for their HQ for their (admitted by you, legitimate) resistance
@Librarianook83@adam_talkshow@AdamFriedland@RitchieTorres Ignoring the fact that the only evidence for the hospital HQ claims comes by the accused in defense/justification of their own actions (which will always be biased, you have to at least admit that), Israel has the land to place their HQ elsewhere, why wouldn't they?
@Librarianook83@adam_talkshow@AdamFriedland@RitchieTorres and again I can tell you're trying to approach this with base values and logic, but that falls apart when you say shit like "EVERY action taken" and "they have NEVER" followed "laws of war"
@Librarianook83@adam_talkshow@AdamFriedland@RitchieTorres You already agreed that "you can't fault them for resisting the IDF", so by your own words, combat actions against the IDF is justifiable. How is that a war crime? It's probably not in your interest to get into what is and isn't a war crime.
@Librarianook83@adam_talkshow@AdamFriedland@RitchieTorres and in case you think "prisoners don't equal hostages because the Israeli court system is admittedly flawed, but more legitimate", I reply, by what standards? Israel's standards? The "prisoners" didn't have a vote for the govt which imprisoned them, so there's no legitimacy
@Librarianook83@adam_talkshow@AdamFriedland@RitchieTorres Why does your definition of "legal detention" only apply to Israeli courts? Don't Palestinians have the same right to detain and charge people suspected of crimes and prosecute them within their own system? Either everyone does or no one does...
@Librarianook83@adam_talkshow@AdamFriedland@RitchieTorres So do we ignore identical claims made by IDF opposition who are making the same validity calls? Why is that not factored into your outlook here? If Israel can make the military aged male decision legitimately, their opposition can make the "reservists are combatants", call right?
@Librarianook83@adam_talkshow@AdamFriedland@RitchieTorres You seem logical so I assume the values you state apply to both sides right? Meaning Israel also doesn't have the right to kill noncombatants or use their people/infrastructure as shields, nor they can they hold hostages. Does one who violates this lose legitimacy in their cause?
@Librarianook83@adam_talkshow@AdamFriedland@RitchieTorres I'm so curious, what does “striving for their own self-determination” look like to you? Not rhetorical question btw, and not asking you if all actions on Oct 7 meet your criteria, but I want to know what that would look like, to you. What's the "right way" to do it?
