Want to see more forest mismanagement. This time it's the Alberta government.

I recorded this 2 weeks ago when I was up in the Grand Cache area, setting up our hunting camp.

Someone in the government thought that a good way to protect the 73 caribous in the area was to roll back cutlines that had been there for 65 years. These cutlines can be used by firefighters to access hot spots.

They spent millions basically destroying cut lines by plugging them with cut trees. They even had the nerves to install warning signs. "Uneven terrain ahead".

I'll do a whole thread on this issue later.

As of 8:30 pm this evening, it was determined that air quality had deteriorated to the point that wildland firefighters and others without self contained breathing apparatuses needed to evacuate to Hinton.

The Jasper fire is so intense that it is generating its own thunderstorm, with lightning being detected south of Hinton.

Fire-generated lightning also occurred with the Fort McMurray fire.
