Some of Sony’s Blu-ray-related patents are starting to expire in 2026, with others lasting into 2031.

That means Sony will eventually stop collecting royalties from licensed Blu-ray production. And this isn’t only about games, Blu-ray is also still used for physical movies.

All of this could be linked to Sony leaving physical media

If physical media disappears completely, we could eventually be stuck with whatever versions streaming services choose to offer, usually with lower bitrates and more compression.

RPCS3 just found extra performance hiding in NVIDIA GPUs.

The emulator team discovered a workaround for a driver bug that was hurting performance, after applying it, some tests showed gains of up to 25% on an RTX 5090 and around 20% on an RTX 3080.

Even the older GTX 1060 got a boost, with roughly 20% more performance in Saints Row IV and 10% in Saints Row: The Third.

It won’t mean every PS3 game suddenly runs 25% faster, since results depend on the game and hardware.

RPCS3 just got a new theme that brings back the look of classic Steam.

The PS3 emulator now has an “Old Steam by FlexBy” theme, which brings back the classic Steam look from years ago, with its dark green design and old-school interface.

The theme is purely cosmetic, so it doesn’t change how PS3 games run or affect compatibility.

You can enable it through Config → GUI → UI Stylesheets → Old Steam by FlexBy.

It’s a small addition, but if you remember what Steam looked like back in the day, this is a pretty cool bit of nostalgia for RPCS3.
