Military might and Class Power Structure 🧵

Military might is the basis of all power, it's not the only kind of power but an actor who uses force can only be effectively stopped with greater force. Because of this iron law of nature nations tend toward rewarding the classes who contribute most to military might with privileges and status. Nations which neglect to do this put themselves at greater risk of invasion from without or political upheaval from within. Here are some examples throughout history of the relationship between the power structure of society and who is most accomplished at performing that society's violence. I will focus on Western History as that is where I am most knowledgeable.
