@tacowasa2nd Hey, random thought: if the universe, by and large, doesn't have a Earthly language, doesn't that mean that nobody should speak at all anymore, right?
@cutecats_____ Nice, but... I guess crossing the road was too much. I would have crossed that road, u-turned if necessary, leaped across those rails, sat in the most quiet place possible. Bliss.
Tested: Windows 11’s ‘faster’ File Explorer (preloaded) is still slower than Windows 10.
On a 4GB RAM test machine, File Explorer used ~32.4MB of RAM without preloading. After turning on preloading, Windows quietly adds ~35MB more. So Explorer now sits at ~67.4MB in memory before you even open it.
35MB isn’t a big deal in 2025. Your browser eats that for breakfast. That's not the point of my testing.
Why is the preloaded File Explorer still slower than Windows 10? I made a video to compare the two versions.
@boghogooo I agree with the objectivity of the observation, and while this particular deviation is not intentional, it is more realistic. If possible I create a dual reaction system, one that is core and another that looks more realistic. Latter changes the dynamic of the game, bonus!
@MXRetroDev@boghogooo Please don't "fix" this particular "bug". As much faithful as the port must be, the original was actually inconsistent in this aspect. The opponent should react accordingly to physical rules of motion instead of whatever engine oversight or limitation Capcom put out.
@falco_girgis Genesis/MD -> Saturn -> Dreamcast
Always a fanboy until the end, DC was my last console, which my parents bought for me for Christmas (2K). Why was it my last console? Idk, it kind of shocked me (com flop), then jumped to PC. Kid then, adult now, is mind-blown with DC indie dev.
Game development education has failed, and the old guard has moved on, retired or been laid off. I've talked to recent graduates and people actively in school that know literally nothing about old techniques or optimization in any way. They expect the engine to do everything for them.

@TheCartelDel Yes, that's true. But I think among those there are more substantial arguments to be found, that everyone and their uncle are adopting UE and, whatever is gained, little effort is poured into optimization. Back in the day, most studios used to optimize af, apart from GTA4 lol
@saruhschwartz May seem post-worthy from where you're standing, but from where I'm standing, it's absolute dogshit post. Kudos for not trailing the guy though. Still not worthy post, but the masses deemed otherwise so damned be my reasoning either
