We need more equality in our tax system, we need to end the exemptions and loopholes that have bloated our tax code to around 3,000 pages long - a simple one size fits all for income, however generated, would raise a significant extra sum of tax, from people currently enjoying exemption for no good reason. But this would not be a wealth tax, it would be an equalisation of tax. Extreme wealth and our every widening wealth/poverty gap are both the symptoms of a tax code written by people with money for people with money - a wealth tax is an after event remedy (I’m up for it of course) but we urgently need to fix the cause - our lopsided tax system, that takes the most from those with the least.
