The discrimination tackled by Civil Rights is by groups with more power to exclude and marginalize those in groups with less power (from a Liberal, not white supremacist nor male supremacist perspective). As written many of these laws contain exceptions and consideration for special classes - the people who are typically excluded from full participation because of discrimination.

And these rulings are in favor of access for a protected class of people who have suffered material harm from discrimination.

Yes.
But this is a specious argument when most of the economic power is held by men

They could have restricted post game comments to a green room and excluded all reporters from locker rooms. If only female reporters are excluded they never get the scoop and can't do the job.
