We began the visit of NATO’s North Atlantic Council to Ukraine by honoring the memory of fallen Ukrainian warriors at the Wall of Remembrance. Along with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte @SecGenNATO, Chair of the Alliance’s Military Committee Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone @CMC_NATO, as well as the permanent representatives and deputy permanent representatives of all 32 NATO member states.
We deeply appreciate this sign of respect from the Alliance representatives toward our warriors, who defended our country and all of Europe from Russian evil. It is profoundly important to remember every single man and woman thanks to whom we have the opportunity to live freely and choose our own way of life.
Blessed be the memory of the fallen Ukrainian defenders. Eternal honor to the heroes.
Today has been a difficult day in Ukraine after a massive Russian strike. There were many ballistic missiles and drones. Now air-raid alerts are active across various regions too. And once again, we are facing aerial threats. Just today, Russian strikes have taken 22 lives in Kyiv and Dnipro, including children. We are doing everything to protect our people, our cities, and our communities. And we are grateful to those who are helping us. Ukraine is grateful to Italy. We deeply value that you care, that you want peace for us, and see the defense of Kyiv’s independence and freedom as your cause. Together, we will certainly achieve this.
I congratulate Italy, President Mattarella @Quirinale, President of the Council of Ministers @GiorgiaMeloni, and all Italian people on the 80th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic. Freedom is an achievement that must be defended every day.
Thank you, Italy! Buona Festa della Repubblica!
For all of us, science is about life – how to protect it, how to help, and how to turn ideas into reality. I am grateful that science in Ukraine is developing and thriving. With technology comes strong defense, strong army, and strong Ukraine.
I presented our scientists with state awards and conferred honorary titles on them. Thank you for your work, your ideas, and the projects you have brought to life. This helps Ukraine hold the line, defend itself, and save lives. We spoke about the key areas in which Ukraine needs to develop. I also saw new Ukrainian innovations in defense and medicine.
Already this year, the National System of Researchers will begin operating in Ukraine – an individual rating system for supporting scientists. 2,650 top scientists will receive monthly scholarships. Support is provided in particular for young scientists, women in science, and veteran scientists.
I thank all Ukrainian scientists for their talent, dedication, and work for Ukraine.
Another Ukrainian long-range sanction against Russian oil refining – and we are continuing this line of action. This time around, it was the Syzran oil refinery – more than 800 kilometers away from our border. I thank the warriors of the Unmanned Systems Forces and the Special Operations Forces for their precision. Glory to Ukraine!

There are good results from the warriors of the SSU Special Operations Center “A.” A Russian FSB headquarters has been struck, and a Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile system has been destroyed in our temporarily occupied territory. Thanks to just this one operation, Russian losses amount to around a hundred occupiers killed and wounded. Russians must feel that they must bring this war of theirs to an end. Ukraine’s medium- and long-range sanctions will keep working.
For centuries, we have been captivated by its pattern. But now it is our turn to create the pattern ourselves – through our lives, our fight, and every new step we take.
Every day, Ukrainians embroider it with their own hands – defending what they hold dear, rebuilding what has been destroyed, healing wounds, teaching children, and continuing to learn themselves. We preserve our memory and build the future.
Happy Vyshyvanka Day, Ukraine! Celebrating the destiny we embroider in independence!
We are taking another step to strengthen our biggest and most important national award in the field of culture and the arts – the Shevchenko National Prize. Last year, we added curatorial practice, photography, and design to the list of categories. This year, we are adding architecture.
The Shevchenko Prize will now reflect the much broader creative potential of our people. And most importantly – so that Ukrainians hold this award in genuine respect, and so that the Shevchenko Prize becomes a symbol of gratitude to everyone who develops Ukraine, Ukrainian culture, and our national identity.
I would also like to give a special mention to the members of the Shevchenko Committee – thank you for your personal efforts that help strengthen Ukraine’s value space, the space of our national culture. Glory to Ukraine!
I love Ukraine, but for me and my skinny little Estonian ass that comes from a tiny country where “long drive” means maybe 2 hours… those Ukrainian bus trips that casually last 10-12+ hours are sometimes absolutely brutal 🥲
At some point your back stops existing, your legs forget circulation and you start questioning every life decision that brought you onto that seat with 2 bags, cold coffee and one surviving braincell left somewhere near Uman 🤣
This month saw changes in the dynamics on the frontline in Ukraine’s favor. We are holding more positions and inflicting more damage. The impact of our long-range sanctions against Russia has been especially significant. Today, I approved our long-range action plans for June.
Ivan Marchuk is among those Ukrainian artists whose oeuvre we are proud of and deeply admire. He is a painter who created his own style, his own technique, and more than five thousand canvases – most of them dedicated to Ukraine. These works are exhibited in different parts of the world. They are about our landscapes and legends, history, culture, and our people.
For decades, the Soviet regime did not allow Ivan Marchuk to fully realize his creative potential, but despite everything, he succeeded – and today he continues to work for Ukraine and with Ukraine. Today, together, we visited the exhibition of superb works, “Ivan Marchuk. Museum Collections”, at the Chocolate House, which reopened for the first time since 2022 specifically to hold this exhibition.
We are grateful for art that supports, inspires, and puts Ukraine on the map.
It is reported that Russia air defence systems in yesterday mass Ukrainian drone raid shot down their own military helicopter after mistaking it on radar for a drone.
