@mpershan In IB final year there are international exams. They typically they count for 80% of final grade; 20% is an internal assessment, usually an extended piece of writing that the teacher grades. But promotion decisions up until the final year are all based on internal teacher grades
@mpershan In NL students get grades from teachers on a scale of 1-10. 5.5 (6) is lowest passing grade, but you can still pass the year with several 5s on your report (and you don’t repeat the failed class). In the upper years there are national exams but they count alongside school exams
@nrichmaths@mathsweekldn@FacultyMaths@Cambridge_Uni From the eventbrite page “For more details please see the event page on the NRICH website.” The linked event page there says year 6 and sounds very different
@Desmos Do you have video recordings of the sessions for those of us in time zones that are not convenient with these sessions? Or is the curriculum only available to US users?
The suggestion that any job is “low skill” is a myth perpetuated by wealthy interests to justify inhumane working conditions, little/no healthcare, and low wages.
Plus being a waitress has made me and many others *better* at our jobs than those who’ve never known that life.
What’s it like to be on the boat with Charon, the immortal ferryman, heading into the underworld? Writer @mpphillips imagines one such trip. https://t.co/vABxP5GR7D
@Desmos @MsKlovesMATH We consistently had this with two students all last year and could never solve it through multiple emails with the Desmos team. If you get a solution, I’d love to hear it!!!
@awalkins @ewarren Yes! Haven’t lived in US since 2010, Dutch taxes are simple, and American ones are nearly impossible for a layman to figure out. Double filling is horrible.
@ewarren Yes!! And please help simplify the process for Americans abroad!! Please advocate for residency-based taxes instead of citizenship-based taxes.
