absolutely - can't overcome the wave without these public health fundamentals (+ vaccines). last year wards were active in contact tracing but don't see any of that in this surge. we have to be forward looking and preclude hospitalizations to begin with
What can those who want to help from outside Nepal do?
(So many friends are asking. Let me share where I think there is the biggest bang for the buck.)
Answer: buy tons of COVID test kits (antigen & PCR), hand them over to municipalities to run mass free testing campaigns.

Really important caveat in today's celebration--this vaccine won't cut it for many LMICs. Value of vaccines, like all health products, is local; just because it's efficacious does not mean its effective or useful for all populations.

@AnupSubedee A key hindrance is that regulators in NP are far behind in validating/approving new molecular testing methods. Pool testing is still not embraced, much less dry swabs/saliva based PCR tests. Using a novel saliva based PCR test UIUC is running 10,000+ tests a day!
