@maximum From a business stand point, it makes sense. Most people have written off their sub. An xpac costs $60 plus sub ($15/mo, $180 a year, paying for an xpac 6 times over), how ever many WoW Tokens, and shop stuff. Corp greed sucks, but people gotta stop buying (boycott?), they won't.
