@TheMacAran Depends on the field but that's either average or quick for lots of fields, AKA you're doing fine. Lots of my buddies in like immunology, cancer bio, cell-based labs etc get out in 5/6, but us developmental bio people using model organisms often can take up to 7 or 8
This tweet is 90% a joke, but I have a strong startle response to literally every unexpected noise. @GranatoLab I wonder what genes I'm mutant for- I'm like the fish in your behavior assays
I love how I get absolutely terrified of going to my committee meetings, but every time I've had one it's been a positive experience. You'd think I'd learn to not be scared of them anymore, but I'm pretty sure my habituation circuitry is a little "off" haha
Posting a little bit of #sciart this afternoon. Here's a graphical fig I made for my most recent review, showing how the repulsive Robo receptor is regulated in the developing fruit fly nerve cord and mouse spinal cord as axons cross the midline. Hand drawn using procreate.
@Kyle_Ireton Aww thanks so much! Also working on some graphics for educational materials used for a high school outreach program that I plan to share soon!
@GaryMcDowellPhD I mean... the scientific environment makes everybody feel desperate and their livelihood precarious. High ethical and intellectual principles go out the window when you're worried about being able to pay for... having all your teeth. (with that said I'm generally pro open info)
I love procreate since it's super intuitive for ppl like myself, who have more of a traditional art background. Making super clean graphics doesn't feel too different from doodling!
Finally out! Work funded by @CIHR_IRSC@AlzCanada Lots of work needed to determine if it works in human cells, but this is a first step in identifying a potential therapeutic factor for tauopathies. Short thread โฌ๏ธ
