@vox_vis The Americans are low key pissing me off saying there’s negative connotations from calling it a snail trail like
I view snail trail as a more neutral and less openly sexual term for the body hair
Like calling it a happy trail or treasure trail explicitly links it to genitalia
@vox_vis The transition to happy trail/treasure trail in Aus and the uk/nz is more closely linked to the breakthrough of American slang in our vernacular rather than anything specifically generational
@salmondere@phellyos Far be it from me to defend someone with a shit take but that is what people in some countries, which can be found outside the US, would call it
I don’t view it as having negative connotations, I view it as a less outwardly sexual term
The take is shit but the term is just a term
@grimmelthgrisly@phellyos I mean it’s not misogynistic to change it bc you see. In other countries we call it that, and it is most commonly found on men
I didn’t hear the terms happy trail or treasure trail until I was like. An adult
So maybe don’t read too much into it
@beergnome1st@ArielleKruse1@phellyos Like happy trail + treasure trail both sound weird to me bc I grew up calling it this
What you grew up with is what sounds intuitive to you
@beergnome1st@ArielleKruse1@phellyos I don’t know what to tell you. It doesn’t make sense to you bc you didn’t grow up with it. But it is what we call it lol
@quiet_homeboy The way that the person claiming to have the 15000lb horse isn’t even the person sending the messages. How did they think it was you?
Maybe the media literacy crisis has been going longer than we thought
@johnwcbragg@SebMilbank Everyone thinks those rolls are absolute madness, that’s why the photos got taken in the first place, but then I think it becomes a point of national pride to wind up Americans
@justjamie147@Jousting_Sticks Until year 9 I went to the only school in our interschool sports league that mandated team sports all the way through to the end of year 12
Oh you want to study on Tuesday and Thursday nights? TOO BAD. MANDATORY SOFTBALL
@lucy_minna I now know I’m hypermobile and what I probably did was subluxate my shoulder but I hurt myself landing on the mat in high jump practice and my PE teacher said I was making it up bc “how do you get hurt landing on a mat” 💀
@AdrianWarlock@Jousting_Sticks In primary school every assembly the sports captain had to get up and haltingly read all the teams’ results from the previous week 🙄 when I moved to a public school at the end of year 9, you wouldn’t have even know we had inter school sports teams
@drop_kicker@Jousting_Sticks And then had a coughing fit and coughed up just. A lot of mucous. Bc I still had bacterial pneumonia, I was just mostly better
And my teacher told me off for “giving into peer pressure” when like. You spend your whole life being told to listen to teachers 🫠 2/2
@drop_kicker@Jousting_Sticks The week after I went back to school after a month off with pneumonia they were like “you don’t have to run cross country you can walk it” and I begrudgingly agreed and then every teacher was yelling at me to run so I started running 1/2
@VeeBee1001@theatrelio Oh, yes, absolutely. But contactless is relatively new, and there was a period here between the phasing out of signing for payments (and everyone had to remember their pin) and the introduction of contactless
