No, the Falklands were not British before Argentina existed. There were two settlements in the Falklands. The First was France, two years later the British established another one. The French turned their settlement over to Spain, as the British abandoned theirs in 1774. Spain administered, and supplied the Islands and their settlement out of Buenos Aires. In 1811, Argentina achieved independence from Spain, took over governance and sent settlers and a garrison to repopulate the now abandon Spanish settlement. In 1833, 59 years after the British had abandoned their little settlement back in 1774, they showed up to the Island with a war ship, promptly expelling the Argentinian garrison, and created a new settlement, which is what exists today. SO NO, the Falklands were not British before there was an Argentina. They were French, Spanish, Argentinian, and nominally British, established in 1833, 22 years after Argentinian independence. 🏁 P9 at the flag and 2 points in the bag!!

Franco crossed the line in P9 after an eventful race. Starting from P7, he made a brilliant getaway and charged up to P4 before the red flag.
He handled the restart from P4 on the grid impeccably and even climbed as high as P3. But a small mistake saw him run wide, dropping several positions all the way down to P16. From there, he launched a mega recovery. Franco battled his way through the field in remarkable fashion, climbing back to P9 at the chequered flag to secure 2 points.

What a comeback, Franco! A fantastic way to cap off a brilliant weekend. Next up: Madrid! Vamos! 👊
