El ceo de Palantir, Alex Karp, acaba de aparecer en CNBC y lanzó una bomba contra openAI y anthropic.

Dijo que los ejecutivos de las grandes empresas fortune 500 están furiosos en privado.

Están pagando cantidades enormes por tokens que muchas veces no generan valor real, mientras los laboratorios de IA entrenan con su activo más valioso: sus flujos de trabajo propietarios, datos de clientes, documentos estratégicos y propiedad intelectual interna.

La pregunta más dura de Karp fue esta:

“Si estos modelos son tan valiosos que pueden generar mil millones de dólares, ¿por qué los laboratorios no se llevan acciones o un porcentaje de las ganancias? ¿Por qué siguen cobrando por token?”

Esa pregunta deja al descubierto el modelo de negocio.

Si la IA realmente entregara un retorno de inversión consistente y enorme, los laboratorios apostarían por los resultados y se quedarían con una parte.

En cambio, venden acceso a computación y se quedan con los datos.

El resultado es que las empresas están entregando su ventaja competitiva directamente a los sistemas de entrenamiento de unos pocos laboratorios de Silicon Valley. Esos mismos laboratorios pueden después reutilizar esa inteligencia, empaquetarla y venderla de vuelta (incluso a sus competidores).

Karp asegura que por eso muchos CEOs están hirviendo de rabia a puerta cerrada, pero se mantienen en silencio en público.

Nadie quiere ser el primero en denunciarlo y luego ver cómo su propia información se convierte en el próximo producto de alguien más.

En resumen:
El modelo actual de la IA frontier no solo vende inteligencia. La está extrayendo de sus propios clientes mientras les cobra por usarla.

Estés de acuerdo con Karp o no, es una forma muy dura de describir lo que realmente está pasando.
