@AdrianDittmann I donāt think most people fully understand that it āISā indeed possible to do things at scale, profitably and effectively within our own country. We donāt need to be reliant on cheap foreign labor. US companies should learn from their approach, innovate, optimize and repeat.
Really?... Oh my... Who could have guessed this one? š¤ - Next theyāll tell us itās unhealthy to give your kids puberty blockers⦠𫨠- An upside-down world slowly turning right-side up again.
I disagree with this sentiment based on where we found out all the money was going. Many of our institutions had zero incentive to cut administrative bloat and shift those funds into results-driven research. No one was incentivized to cut the bloat⦠now they are forced to prioritize!
Since these Trump accounts and their purposes were signed into law, Iāve wondered why we havenāt seen more companies announce āfuture commitmentsā to fund them once they achieve various milestonesāEPS, revenue, whateverājust like Elonās comp plan is contingent on deliverables.
This would ease many concerns the public and legislators have about these massive deals and the disruptions they could cause.
Can anyone share general insights on the backroom discussions where this is explored? (@altcap?)
I gotta give my take on this recent clip from @theallinpod. Isnāt there something even more strategic going on here with Anthropic?
Theyāre not just pushing for regulation but seem to be preemptively aligning themselves with the political left. Every major AI lab looks the same to many votersā¦. profit only, too powerful, unregulated, billionaire-backed.
Anthropicās messaging around an egalitarian future, Machines of Loving Grace, and AI deciding what humans ādeserveā lines up perfectly with that side⦠especially with younger voters and the far left.
That ādeservingā concept is a message the left canāt walk away from in a 2028+ cycle. With this positioning Anthropic sets themselves up as the ideologically aligned alternative/replacement.
Does anyone disagree (@bgurley) or have a different take? Iād love to be proven wrong but to me this feels very calculated and intentional.
@SawyerMerritt Iāve realigned my view here⦠Iām increasingly convinced the most logical target is Enphase. Everything seems to align. Look into the timing similarities, bottlenecks, public comments and alignments of both companies. $ENPH
I suspect this focuses on Tesla's Terafab initiative and the biggest bottlenecks, namely cracking the memory wall with better HBM tech or solving advanced packaging and interconnects, which are current limitations to scaling and rethinking production. Itās clearly a 90% performance-based deal aimed at solving a problem that needs to work at scale.
@RealAF_Patriot While I donāt doubt organized bots are involved in amplifying various view it should be noted that you canāt obtain IP addresses from DMs on social media accounts so itās impossible to cross reference the conclusions this way.
@MarioNawfal Europe's problem isnāt recognizing these facts as self evident. Rather, itās the independence of each nationās internal expenditures and priorities which supersede those of the collective.
The opening remarks as they sat down sound encouragingā¦
President Xi Jinping to President Trump in Beijing today:
āChina and the United States have greater common interests than differences. The success of each side is an opportunity for the other, and a stable China-U.S. relationship is a benefit to the world. Both sides should be partners rather than rivals, help each other succeed and prosper together, and find the right way for major countries to get along in the new era. I look forward to exchanging views with President Trump on major issues concerning our two countries and the world, and working together to steer and navigate the giant ship of China-U.S. relations so that 2026 becomes a historic and landmark year that opens a new chapter in China-U.S. relations.ā
President Trump replied:
āItās an honor to be with you. Itās an honor to be your friend, and the relationship between China and the USA is going to be better than ever before. My relationship with President Xi is a fantastic one. Weāve always gotten along⦠Itās an honor to be here. We look forward to discussing reciprocal trade.ā
Historic moment in Beijing⦠Im cautiously optimistic!
Joe, could you clarify if, when scaled up/out, it actually excels more in steady sustained loads (e.g., EV charging) or high-frequency fluctuating ones (VFDs, appliances cycling, AI chips)?
I suspect youāll say both; however, I assume they are less prone to failure in one of those operational states.
Love this. Iāve wondered: at 80 mph in a sudden downpour with standing water, whatās the real success rate for even a top rally driver to hold a straight line in a narrow lane once hydroplaning starts? What are the limits at different sustained speeds? It would seem Tesla should be capable of outperforming the best humans⦠same inputs, same outputs (+ some) right?
@elonmusk What's her argument? No corp should get this successful, or successful corps must be forced to hand it over to the government so the Dems can turn them unprofitable? š
Yeah, raw 10-bit stream gets processed then discarded (front cam alone ~5.5mb Ć 1.25 bytes = ~6.5 mb per frame, ~156 mb/s at 24fps). No argument.
From what I recall, Elonās clearer image is the post-NN high-DR output the car already computes for driving. Shouldnāt a lightweight viz head be able to turn that into viewable footage at similar h265 sizes as todayās clips? I thought their internal pipelines already do it. Am I missing something here?
I think the HW4 front cam is 2896Ć1876 (~5.5MP) with 10-bit photon count data coming in at roughly 6.5mb raw per frame. The NN already runs full inference on it in realtime (so the high-DR reconstruction is already being computed), so a small tone-mapping/visualization layer on top seems like minimal extra compute (dont their internal tools already output these?). Dashcam/Sentry stays in the low few mb/s compressed range either way. Am I misunderstanding the compute side?
I noticed another reply to this where Iāll try to explain where I was coming from. Either way, after thinking about it more I totally get reserving every cycle until unsupervised FSD is solved ā no sense adding something you might have to remove later once people come to expect it
@JTLonsdale@GavinNewsom These are probably adult diapers being distributed to all Democrats currently running Los Angeles in preparation for whatās about to happen come November. š
