I went in for a COVID test today. The nurse practitioner pressed play on an old stereo. Smash Mouth’s 1999 anthem “All Star” started playing. “Sing” she said. I couldn’t remember the lyrics. “You have COVID”, she said, making her finger and thumb the shape of an L on her forehead
@bobmdolan@CBE68855409@greg_scott@CandiceHorbacz Everyone is allowed to have their own rules and boundaries. I guess my issue is assuming her husband would feel the same as you. Perhaps he also saw (as she did) an opportunity to educate partners about how their partners might be feeling in a similar routine.
@RIFT_589@CandiceHorbacz Was her husband too much of a coward to say, hey, the maintenance of another child would be too much for me at this point? To know his own capabilities? This conversation again assumes that women are default caregivers. Why is this man not voicing his true opinions?
@evilvampireguy@Twhitman30@brococoli_@NewsDaze@BGatesIsaPyscho Right, forgot about the great Pangaea sale. Even native Americans didn’t consider themselves “owners”. Anyway, the point is, arguing it was “Russia’s first” in support of their invasion isn’t a sound argument.
@evilvampireguy@Twhitman30@brococoli_@NewsDaze@BGatesIsaPyscho *sigh* what’s the difference? why do we feel the need to draw this line, when it still stands that defending Russia’s invasion by claiming it was “their” land isn’t a reasonable defense. If you go back far enough, NO ONE owned it. Are we all just “controlling” our real estate?
@Twhitman30@evilvampireguy@brococoli_@NewsDaze@BGatesIsaPyscho Tracy, we’re in agreement. You’ve illustrated my point. And - I’m an American.
Imagine the UK seized the land east of the Mississippi, killing American families to do so, and the argument defending their actions was: “well, it was Great Britain’s land first.”
@evilvampireguy@brococoli_@Twhitman30@NewsDaze@BGatesIsaPyscho Oh sweetheart. Guess who owned the land that is now the United States “first”? Would you be ok with it being chopped up again, by force, from the original colonizers of the west? Wait, no, how about we give it back to the Native Americans?
Do you see how “first” is meaningless?
