Extremely grateful to be a part of fascinating research and contribute as a first author alongside my mentor @AnishaSumith , as well as @manoj290991 and @DhruvaKesireddy ! A big thanks to my supervisor @Ishwariya13 ma'am for the guidance, support and faith. Onward and upward :))
Ending 2025 with our 5th preprint for this year 🎉 this time work co-lead by @netrakrish and @AnishaSumith , where we discover that nucleosome eviction around pro-growth genes underlies successful chromatin remodeling in injured neurons. For more - https://t.co/tQzxtwcRW1
As a birding girlie, this unlocked my first love in biology - ecology and conservation. Understanding the taxonomy of electric rays and their ecological significance really opened my eyes to these sleek creatures
While I went back home for a personal day, my mom nudged me to attend a lecture over drinks by Dr Amit Kumar, Sathyabama Institute, where he spoke on the little-known world of electric rays.
I loved the interactive session where I got to touch N. timlei :))
Another fav part of the retreat for me? As part of the state of the lab address, Individual shout-out to the crew along with a sashing ceremony (sash has the key achievement from the past year drawn with custom designs by @Rutuja_P13 ) 😁 who doesn’t love the spotlight right? ❤️
We are turning 4 in 2 wks. As tradition goes, I take the lab to a retreat to celebrate our collective wins - big & small, acknowledge contributions of all, course-correct, strategize, 🧠 storm, eat lots, laugh 😆 silly, and essentially regenerate- because it starts with us! ❤️
We've been obsessed with the 3D genome lately. Our preprint will tell you why. We mapped 3D topology, layer by layer, across Development and Injury, guess what?! Neurons retain latent cellular memory that triggers rewiring of the 3D genome upon injury!!! https://t.co/yKPoNiimY2
6 ways to have a good weekend:
1. Drink coffee.
2. Avoid people.
3. Read books. Go for a walk.
4. Drink more coffee.
5. Keep avoiding people.
6. Read more books. Go for a walk.
Once I read this thing where a woman said that she will not read any books on productivity, time management, habits or how to live the best life if they're written by men because they were able to manage that time or build those life changing habits because they HAD A WIFE. Instead, this person said they would only read female-authored books on that subject--moms or wives that did the laundry, worked, and still got stuff done. I think about that a lot.
Every PhD is dotted with milestones, one such here @ccmb_csir is open doctoral committee talks! Today my first student @Yogeshsahu2030 , dedication and hard work personified, presented his work and I couldn’t be prouder 🥳🥳🥳🥳 onwards and upwards yogesh!
We are looking for 2 Dissertees (Start date July 2026- July 2027) and 1 Project-based trainee (1 yr) for exciting projects at the intersection of Stem cell therapy, Gene therapy, and Epigenetics! We will not accept 6-month trainees whatsoever, so pls don't email!
Slightly easier days, slower mornings and trickling back to reading. This week's reads - Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa, and Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom gifted to me by my mentor @Ishwariya13 :)
One fiction and other non-fiction, yet so touching!
Biggest lesson I’ll tell my younger scientist self? Take more breaks. It’s easier to pull yourself self from an *almost* burnout than a full one. That blot can wait, those stack of to-read papers will still be there after your break, a refreshed you is >>>>>>>> all else.
Happy International Women in Science Day!
Extremely privileged to contribute and do good science under the mentorship of @AnishaSumith and supervision of @Ishwariya13
