Creating custom dioramas (i.e., progressive immersive views) for your app.
Blog post on how to create dioramas for your apps. I think this is going to create a lot of opportunities for 3D content creators.

And so it begins...
I've connected my Apple Vision Pro to my Mac/Xcode, tested small immersive programs on the device, and tested non-foveated video capture.

@BenBajarin Spatial videos can be shared directly, bypassing gatekeepers.
It seems like a good way for some industries to make some money.
I wonder (1) if Apple will sell, lease, or others will sell cameras to make Apple Immersive Video and (2) if people will be able to share those videos.
@SadlyItsBradley Here is Apple's page for developers to capture screenshots and videos for their apps (presumably without foveated rendering). It requires a Mac and Xcode's Reality Composer Pro.
It doesn't seem very convenient.

Here are some some additional pages with USDZ models that pop out in Apple Vision Pro.
Space in 3D, Batch 2 - Strange Mars

Jezero Crater in 3D

Cool! If you have an Apple Vision Pro, use Safari to visit an old web page of mine with Apollo landing sites, look at a model, and pinch, the model pops out and you can move it around.
I'll have to start posting USDZ models like this.

Apple has barely talked about what I think will be Apple Vision Pro's most talked about feature for 2024 - Apple Immersive Video.

Looks like rumors of restructuring & layoffs at ByteDance's Pico unit are true. Only the scale of the layoffs are in dispute.

@BenBajarin How is extended reading of text in Windows in Meta Quest 3? Without it, I think Quest will remain primarily a game platform.
Apple supports game controllers in AVP, so it will mostly be a policy decision when to support hand controllers. Perhaps visionOS 2.
"The original shipment forecast for Quest 3 in 2H23 was set at over 7 million units.
However, due to anticipated weak demand, the current shipment forecast for 2H23 has been cut to between 2β2.5 million units, with shipments in 2024 estimated at around 1 million units."
@SadlyItsBradley Ming-Chi Kuo has not been providing a lot of good news for the AR/VR crowd lately.
He has been reporting negative signals for the Apple Vision Pro too (severe supply constrains for the first year, dropping development of a lower-cost/functionality version, delays for AVP 2)
@nathanwchan I felt Apple's avatars demos were weak. WWDC videos show abstract diagrams of characters standing near each other, but none of them show what an experience will actually be like.
For year 1, I think Apple Vision Pro will mainly be a solo experience.
@benz145 I think most sales (or software installs) for a device come soon after a user buys the device.
Quest 2 was three years old, and I think new hardware sales were off dramatically from ~2021.
Will Quest 3, with its greater capabilities but higher price, reinvigorate headset sales?
@markgurman I think the subscription-based home fitness market is contracting/consolidating pretty quickly.
I wonder how Apple Fitness+ is doing with respect to Apple's expectations for the unit?
@Rengle820 I suspect next June there may be a few flights like that to San Francisco as Apple developers, journalists/YouTubers, and enthusiasts head to Cupertino for WWDC 2024.
(Assuming Apple Vision Pro ships on time and in sufficient quantities)
@Scobleizer Looks increasingly like Meta Quest 3 and PlayStation VR2 are playing in the same market (VR games), and Apple will be in an entirely different market.
