@heymrsbond I love children and am so blessed that they love me! I was a teacher before I got my degree and suspect I will continue to be one until I leave this earth. I'm one of a few teachers of colour at a very diverse school so hopefully students can see themselves represented.
@heymrsbond As a former Grade 1 teacher I know my specific requests were baffling to parents and probably frustrating as well. Some brands hold up to kid use better than others. But in the end it really doesn't matter as we are so thankful for the support.
@lt71_lt @Teachers__Unite The children the article is talking about have complex needs and no amount of discipline is going to change that. The model is inclusion in regular classes. There are not many special classes anymore.
@birgitomo This saddens me to hear. My mom was one of the first Black managers in Ontario nursing and the respect she received was of the highest level. It seems we keep moving backwards rather than forward.
@heymrsbond Thank you for your example of humility that is so often not present in online discourse and for your willingness to listen and see different perspectives. And no, I'm not a band teacher.
@heymrsbond Wondering if you have considered the students who struggle in those areas, but excel in other areas like music and drama who are relieved to have a few classes where they can shine.
@SpaghettiNeutrl Every year I purge because I'm determined to retire year next walking out with 1 banker box that has a plant and a lamp in it like they do on TV.
@olliefromkenoll @Teachers__Unite So many more complex needs than before. Do you recall having students in your classes who were non verbal and needed toileting?
