THE ECHR PROTECTS US ALL
The rights within it – firmly implanted into UK law by the Human Rights Act – are the reason why families devastated by disasters like Hillsborough could demand justice, why victims of abuse can seek safety, and why disabled people are treated with dignity in care. It grants our right to protest, our right to privacy, our right to fair trials and so much more.
We must protect it, not leave it
@Shrink_at_Large@Keir_Starmer Oh no, he doesn't mean family carers who are feckless enough to have disabled relatives. That was a uniformed employed carer
@monisha_rajesh And yet the government wants to get young people into work, but when this young woman who deserves all the help she can get enters a government work scheme, she is penalised
@RaeA_Smith That form is particularly traumatising for parents having to list over and over again everything their child is unable to do, every failing, every milestone not passed
@Elainebks @RaeA_Smith It was introduced after a big fight as a bit of pin money for carers, who were usually women, in recognition that they were giving up the chance of a full time job and pension
