What is the role of groups in (higher-order) social contagion?
👉New preprint led by @stonge_g & @LHDnets w/ V. Latora, @alainbarrat@lordgrilo@all_are: "Influential groups for seeding and sustaining hypergraph contagions"

Story time. In W. Zachary's famous karate club study, his research question was studying "group fission" in networks. He proposed using max flow/min cut, applying Ford–Fulkerson, to predict how groups fall apart when factions form, taking the rival leaders as source/sink. 1/n
I'm happy to announce a new project, called Netzschleuder: https://t.co/SnBeOc5Pdk
This is a network data catalogue and repository. It currently contains 257 datasets totaling 3,916 individual networks (94,956 if you include a big @openstreetmap trove).

Want an easy way to plot multilayer networks using #matplotlib and #networkx? I'm sure there's tons of ways to do this, but here's my attempt at a template.
Shoutout to @ryanjgallag for the motivation.

"Network science is haunted by the consequences of urban planning, and vice versa—smart cities are just the latest manifestation of this intricate web of influence."
Stunning essay on the archives of Lazarsfeld & Merton and the urban history of homophily https://t.co/Nhbtsr5RS8
This work involved many lengthy discussions about what is being causally tested in this experiment, among us co-authors and with colleagues who were very generous with their time. See the paper for our best efforts to report our findings: https://t.co/wuMxzodIx9 18/n
In adoption decisions based on social referrals, what about graph structure? Classic modeling of such decisions study "influence response functions", adoption as a function of # of adopted friends, see e.g. this classic by @duncanjwatts/@peterdodds:

Excited to present, "Multiscale eco-evolutionary dynamics of biological networks" at #LANET2019 in beautiful Cartagena. I'm trying to integrate work across empirical gene networks w/ new theory on the evolution of gene interactions. @NUnetsi @LaNet_2019 https://t.co/00BgRd2YHP
Consistency and differences between centrality measures across distinct classes of networks
“correlations between 17 different centrality measures across 212 diverse real-world networks”

Hot off the Roboctopress!

To mark the 20th anniversary of landmark NetSci papers, I am thrilled to announce a very special issue of the Proceedings of Royal Society A: a Generation of Network Science. #NetSci2019 Please RT and contribute! https://t.co/T1ioVd5EQX
