life appears to mean nothing.
How do we find meaning in anything under the sun.
In existential psychology there is an argument that while life has no inherent overarching universal meaning. In order to be hapPy we must find meaning in whatever we are tasked with, whatever is in front of us. Whoever we are with.
The argument is extreme.
For example. If you are plummeting to your death having fallen from a skyscraper. Is it possible to find meaning where you are at in the few seconds before you cease to exist? Existential psychotherapy would argue that it is. In those moments, we can think of someone or something that we love. We can try to picture something happening that brings them joy...
Ethics.
Existential psychotherapy as does not differentiate between philosophical outlooks. Only individual meaning.
What would make you comfortable helping a neighbour in an emergency—or asking one for help?
First aid training? Clear consent? A way to alert people nearby?
I’m interested in the practical details, including the ones that might make this a bad idea if we get them wrong.

I keep wondering what child safety could look like if neighbours were part of the emergency response.
Call 000 first. Then, while help is coming, could nearby people who’ve opted in and know what to do offer support?
I’d like to talk through how that could work safely.
When a child is alone in a system they don’t understand, having a capable adult beside them matters.
I’m following the questions about legal representation for unaccompanied migrant children. Who is responsible for each child while contracts change? How do we know they’re getting effective help?
That’s a child safety question.
Congressional Democrats are pressing federal health officials following the government's decision to end a contract with legal advocacy groups that provide legal representation to migrant children. https://t.co/TwVc3MmfKJ
I think many of us picture danger as something outside the home.
But in Australian child injury hospitalisations where the location was recorded, home was the most common place. For children aged 1–4, 74% of those recorded injuries happened at home.
That surprised me.
Decentralised voting. In Switzerland, they have been doing direct democracy since 1848 and Switzerland is the richest country in the world. Think about that.
