That principle is built into how I'm developing Next Big Domain.
The question shouldn't just be:
"Who could use this domain?"
It should be:
"Who has a reason to care about it?"

One of the biggest mistakes in domain outbound:
Confusing a possible user with a potential buyer.
A company operating in the right industry is not automatically a good prospect for your domain.
This is why "find 500 cybersecurity companies" is not buyer research.
I'd rather identify 10 companies where I can explain exactly why the domain makes sense for each one.
Potential buyer research should be about relevance, not volume.
Before I approach a company, I want to know:
Does the domain fit what they actually do?
Could I explain the use case clearly?
Is there a reason they might need it now?
Could they realistically buy it?
What domain are they using already?
You bought the domain. You listed it for sale. Now what?
Listing makes a domain available, but it doesn’t create a sales process.
I’ve broken down the 7 steps I use to decide which domains deserve active effort and what to do next:

Next Big Domain is officially live.
Domain selling shouldn’t stop at listing.
NBD helps sellers move beyond Buy → List → Wait, with a workflow built around positioning, research, outreach and follow-up.
50 Founding Seller places are now open ↓

A domain can call itself “official” or “not-phishing”. That wording is not evidence.
A new preprint found these self-claims changed some AI threat verdicts — sometimes lowering alerts, sometimes raising them.
A name can describe itself. It cannot verify itself.
#domains
A domain doesn't have to be clever.
It has to survive this:
Someone hears it once.
They spell it correctly.
They remember it tomorrow.
That's a much harder test than it sounds.
What's the fastest way a domain name loses you?

@aarondfrancis 100%. AI has made it so much easier to actually build things now.
The bigger risk is probably thinking too small because you're still judging what's possible by what used to take a team, loads of money and months of work.
Really interesting mix here. https://t.co/j2PMV0faGf gets the attention, but https://t.co/Rl7uUB6LGF at nearly $20k is a good reminder that a domain doesn’t have to be short to have value.
If the meaning is clear and the right buyer sees it, length matters a lot less than people think.
@Aladey https://t.co/v5BEOG7cAt.
I’ve had this sitting on my outbound list for way too long. Strong fit for cybersecurity, defence tech or a Gulf-based security company.
Probably time I actually did something with it.
This is actually pretty big for domain sellers.
If AI agents can search for a domain, work out the price and buy it without a person even going through checkout, that could completely change how domains are discovered and sold.
It also makes me wonder if clear, easy to understand names will become even more valuable.
@MexicanGreek@afternic That’s actually really interesting. People always worry that raising the price will kill the sale, but sometimes pricing too low probably does the opposite and makes the name look less valuable.
Nice result, especially after 11 months holding it.
Great example of why Lease to Own can make such a difference on higher-value names. $28,888 is a serious purchase, but spread over 24 months it becomes much easier for the right buyer to justify.
Also interesting that the sale came so soon after adding it to Afternic. Sometimes the timing and the payment option are just as important as the domain itself.
Westaim became Aventus Capital on 14 September.
https://t.co/A9hJhG7iA9 does not silently redirect. It first confirms the new name, then links to https://t.co/mXtxrpf8RW.
An old domain can carry context, not just traffic.

What would you build on https://t.co/jTQDG1cBRb?
A soil analytics platform, regenerative farming business or land monitoring tool?
The Dynadot auction closes 18 September. Bidding starts at £495:
https://t.co/sGRdj1s7Zk
20,000+ marketplace views. No buyer.
So I changed the strategy.
I’ve put https://t.co/jTQDG1cBRb into a 7-day Dynadot auction starting at £495, and wrote about why I decided to test the auction route instead of just leaving it listed. https://t.co/qH9OtmndNK
Trying something different with one of my domains.
https://t.co/jTQDG1cBRb is now in a 7-day auction, starting at £495.
A good fit for agri-tech, soil health, regenerative agriculture or green tech.
Ends 18 September.

Date check: Narita Airport confirms the Trinity Airways brand began operating on 10 September 2026.
The old address now redirects to the official new site.
https://t.co/T4ZDHbSwVL
T’way Air began operating as Trinity Airways today.
The detail I noticed was in the address bar: https://t.co/i8kxJxAJFI now takes visitors to https://t.co/SZS2vYCREP.
The old name has one last job in a rebrand: lead people to the new one.
