Next time, I will bring my own food to ensure my wellbeing. However, in 2024, expensive conferences that are fully aware of dietary restrictions must do better. This is a huge accessibility concern for those with medical conditions controlled directly/indirectly by food 3/3

Yesterday, as a vegan with many health issues, I had to leave a scientific conference early due to becoming unwell due to only being offered raw courgette/zucchini. I can only take my medication with meals, and without my medication I become extremely unwell. 2/3

Frans de Waal has died. Below is a photograpgh of Frans' showing a male chimpanzee inviting another to reconcile after a fight with the invitation accepted a few minutes later. One of my all time favorite images.

Frans was an incredible observer + student of animal behavior and a writer, in addition to a photographer. His early book, Chimpanzee Politics, not only conveys its topic beautifully, it also gives a sense of Frans' deep intuition for social dynamics.
