Ateez doing what they do best, and going back to the Latin-inspired style of Work. Enjoyable as these b-sides are though, it's starting to get a little unclear to me what the Golden Hour series is supposed to be about? Not a big issue, but noticeable.

I can't even comment on this song because I'm SOOO FUCKING HAPPY FOR CHASE INFINITI, I LOVE HER SO MUCH ๐ญ Most successful K-pop fan ever!!! The fact that she gets to be the leading lady in her favorite group's MV AND she gets to dance in it?? Ateez are so cool for this, man

Sooo asan na full album ng KAIA? They've been incredibly consistent especially with their more laidback/dreamier songs and they've sounded fantastic for yearsss. This is giving me Brave Girls' After We Ride!!! Hope this gets an MV or something.

Hearing Apink gradually do more bittersweet stuff (easy to forget LUV is supposed to be sad!) only solidifies my Chorong bias. You don't expect such a delicate voice to fit so many styles but she really commands attention every time she's on the mic.
Starting my Apink deep dive! (now that the Manila con is over ๐) Cannot emphasize enough how refreshing they are among 2nd gen GGs, the purity of their concept was so precious from day one ๐ฅบ A blueprint GG! It's honestly SO hard to get this style right.
I totally fell behind on this Apink deep dive, I'm sorry ๐ญ Really cool how consistent their sound was, even in their b-sides. And while Yookyung wasn't in the group long, her absence now is felt, with her straight tone and as designated English speaker.
And to me, it's also a good sign that 4 Walls is their best, because it only shows constant improvement from f(x) themselves and their artistic team. You can really hear the group embrace a darker kind of strangeness as they go on, but without losing what makes them f(x).
Remembering there was discourse before about f(x)'s best full album (and whether or not Pink Tape still holds up) got me re-listening to their discog again. I have a lot of thoughts about what makes a good album. And I can say Pink Tape isn't my no. 1, but IMO it 100% holds up:
And then Pinocchio, my 4th fave but genuinely still so, so good. I'm surprised at how often it gets left out of album discussions tbh. It's a very 2011-Kpop-sounding album but it's f(x) at their most upbeat and quirkiest. Sweet Witches is one of the best K-pop songs ever made.
I'm finding that I really enjoy Yeojin's more lowkey, mid-tempo stuff more, so Quiet Yes is definitely my favorite from this. Shows off her voice better too in my opinion, and there's an earnestness of emotion that shines through here.

Something charming about this brand of low-budget, Stay This Way-esque, nugu/midtier summer MV that I would take any day over something entirely generated via slop. And I actually like this more than Sugar Talk! It's Yeojin at her maknae-est, cute and light and pleasant.
