@PeterChastain@jemelehill@roybelly You be you.
I will focus on the positives in life & not blame others & the infamous “man”… the real power is in what & how WE behave individually.
The more anger beholder, the more anger is multiplied. Racism is too important to exonerate for me to add fuel to its fire. Bless.
@jemelehill The recent narrative is that Gruden was a “buffoon” on how he managed the AB fiasco. Which is far worse than the Narrative about Tomlin you reference. Additionally, there’s a lot of talk out there giving credit to Tomlin now for getting rid of AB for the sake of the locker room
@SallyTraveler @luxecure @jemelehill@roybelly Thank you Sally, your Grandma’s words are indeed transcendent and encouraging… I never expected my simple statement of desire for equality to retrieve such anger and venom from people I thought were like me and my family. I thought we all truly wanted equality.
@jemelehill Why do we need to call each other derogatory names at all?
On a spectrum of bad names, we all know which one is certainly much worse; both are not nice nor acceptable in a civilized society! Just because it isn’t as bad as something else doesn’t make it ok. Let’s not use either!
@philbauer54 @jemelehill@roybelly Calling for Athletes to “leave ‘white’ Colleges” sounds like a label to me!
Universities TODAY are no longer Male OR Female nor just “White”. All I’m asking is for people to embrace inclusive not divisive language.
It’s not controversial to seek equality & acceptance for all
@jsplendor@jemelehill@roybelly Just to add, I’m not uncomfortable in any way about race, including my own & family’s race(s)-a proud woman of color. I’m encouraging people to use language of inclusion & not words that imply or get inferred as divisive. It’s about acceptance & equality regardless of background.
@jsplendor@jemelehill@roybelly Again, I appreciate the history and applaud the schools. My objection was more about calling other schools “white universities”, but IMO, we can celebrate the history without labels that may limit others thinking. I’m not try to cause anger, rather raise inclusionary thinking.
@luxecure @jemelehill@roybelly For example, many Universities were men or women only in the past. (I went to 1), we don’t continue to call them “Men”s Schools” despite being Co-Ed. IMO, Labels & stereotypes simply perpetuate people’s thinking about inequality. I prefer unity & equality in my language & actions
