Hi Alfie
I am messaging you anonymously due to still serving
It is great to see Gnr Beck story receiving the publicity she deserves, I really hope it continues and we see significant changes in the Army
What has become apparent over this past two weeks is nobody of senior level being held accountable
Gnr Beck CO at the time is now a Brigadier
Col Samantha Sheperd still serving and did not deem what happened to Gnr Beck as assault (mind blown)
Bdr Mason left on his own accord - why does he not have civilian charges against him?
The WO2 now a WO1 and timing out therefore receiving a full pension - again he should have civilian charges against him!
And also what else hasn’t been covered is the same week of Gnr Beck’s suicide another girl committed suicide due to an inappropriate behaviour from male’s, Nadine Askew. Why is this not public knowledge?
In addition to these two another female also committed suicide at the same unit, 3 in a 6 months period.
People at the top need to be held accountable.
“It is all dreadfully familiar and shows that, in the British Army, it’s worse to accuse someone of racism than it is to be racist,” 😳 https://t.co/lQxbrtOyQS
That creates profound disincentives to rocking the boat, as well as leading to a powerful sense of groupthink. And because of the immersive nature of the job, the effects of the rank system are felt in every aspect of service life.
Culture change. Generational shift. Systematic adaptation.
Senior officials in Britain’s armed forces have long said that the “culture” needs to change. But this rather vague term obscures the complicated role played by rules, systems and decisions made by leaders.
The Ministry of Defence is run according to a rigid hierarchy. To rise through the ranks you must gain the approval of those above you; senior people are unaccountable to junior ones.
‘Admin Sgt’s’ a made up job role for a bygone era still exists in some regiments today. Catering for and looking after JNCO/Ptes.
Modern day micro managers.

THE BRITISH ARMY AND THE DEFENCE COMMAND PAPER REFRESH 2023. 🧵
British Army's 2021 Future Soldier strategy was seen more as a structure driven by costs than than a structure defined by strategy, even though it the Integrated Review got more things right than wrong.
