Waxmoths are beehive demolitionists! Their job in nature is to consume and destroy old wax comb which then allows the bees to create new in its place- a natural way of reducing the risk for wax-borne honeybee illnesses!
A honey bee egg is tinier than a grain of rice, so it's super hard to see! 👀 The egg doesn't hatch like other eggs. Instead, it dissolves, and the growing larvae inside eats up all the nutrients from the “shell”.

MY DAILY BEE FACTOID
HONEY BEES dead in front of their hives from pesticide misuse in agriculture. This happened in Bulgaria but occurs regularly in North America. We BEEKEEPERS can protect the BEES if given adequate warning of spraying, in most cases.

These luscious berries not only offer a plentiful and valuable food source, but their beautiful flowers also attract bees, butterflies, and moths, making them a delightful treat for our buzzing friends.
While introduced species often get bad press, we enjoy being able to forage from those such as Mullein! We are also protecting our native Butterfly weed and Carolina horsenettle for our pollinators #savethebees #pollinators #wildlife #newbees
