That you can work in this industry and so gleefully embrace this poison despite the impact it's had on your peers and colleagues? And for what, all so you can skip the part of making something where you learn a new skill or make a new connection? How ghoulish.
Incredibly disappointing. It's so hard to imagine that someone who has dedicated so much time to polishing their craft as Jakob has, and who is clearly familiar with at least some of the ills of this technology, can just give up like this. It's humbling.
Must say…
A fruitful scatter brain + Remote Claude + Opus 5.5 + Over a decade of experience, Is proven to be a -ridiculous- combo.
I’m having so much fun now, that I don’t care that I might be out of a job in a few years.
Like, put aside the environmental damage, the cognitive decay, its use in widespread disinformation and further erosion of public trust, its dubious reliability, its stealing and scraping, any ideological arguments of "soullessness" etc.,
some fiddling around with one of my favorite games, including a bit of shading inspired by one of my other favorite games. thanks @TreasureCoLtd for a billion memories.

@hiziri_pro The connection here was so obvious that I leaned forward and pointed at the screen the moment one of your illustrations appeared.
Congratulations! A card-based game like this feels like the perfect place to show off your style of work. 👌
@MortMort_ A combat system where the player only has tools that can reposition themself and others, and must use these tools to defeat enemies indirectly - ie. redirecting a charging enemy into other enemies, swapping positions with critters that do something when hit, etc.
@Friedemann_A Oh it's gotta be the coins shooting out of the machine 100%. The clanks as the enemy attack tab slides over or the poison tab slides up are pretty good, but the coins are maybe the most impactful and cathartic feedback I've seen from a non-combat element in a combat system.
@Friedemann_A Oh wow, this is an absolute masterclass on visual feedback and UX. Polished to such a sheen that I can see my reflection squinting back at me.
@Drooling_Demon Gotta say I'm super pleased to see more people playing one of my favorite fighting game hidden gems! It makes sense that you like it though, it's full of the sort of super simple yet dynamic key frames that characterize a massive portion of your work.
@BattleCapacity This roster really is spoiled when it comes to cool characters jam-packed with flavor, but this might honestly be one of the most charming and inventive of the bunch. My eyebrows only raised higher over the course of this trailer - I can't say I've seen anything quite like this!
@GxGrainSon That said, I hope you're able to use this opportunity to step away and find catharsis in completing smaller projects - but don't forget that it's also fine to cut loose and experiment with things you have no intention of completing. The process is worthwhile, too!
@GxGrainSon For what it's worth, while AC might not be "complete" as you've envisioned it, it hasn't felt like an unfinished game for a good while at this point. It's still a fantastic fighting game that I have no regrets purchasing, and it's an easy recommend besides.
@cinderpitstds Also I'm glad that indie turn-based RPGs seem to only be getting saucier on average over time, there really is such a bright future for this genre 😤
@cinderpitstds Seeing that 2D spacing graph and the stats on those cards has me feeling like I've seen the ghost of a board game long since passed.... 👁️
