Of all the stupid ways Deadspin could meet its inevitably stupid end, "sabotaged by the dumbest man alive because he sucked at selling cut-rate insurance ads" is a travesty. Deadspin deserved the chance to sabotage itself on its own terms.
Just so it's clear: The marathon blog by @BillBradley3 on Deadspin today was originally published in July of 2017. It seems that someone tried to republish it in an attempt to keep the site lively. Don't get mad at Bill.
Paul Maidment is pulling old freelance bits and republishing them with reset time stamps, in order to make the site appear fresh. there is no note acknowledging the republishing of two-year-old content
Please do not harass the freelancers. This is not their fault. This is a strategy to make the site, which died the second we all quit, look alive and to trick readers into thinking there is new content.
Programming note: My Kinja access has been revoked. I apologize for any and all spelling and grammar errors, as I cannot fix them. From here on out, all content published on Deadspin is not us. I hope we sent out Deadspin right. We did our best.
How is it fair.....that in this country.....the richest country in the world....one percent of the people....Remember 99 percent ....of the Guys? https://t.co/0Lw8GH8goc
Dave McKenna, a non-tweeter, has also resigned from Deadspin. Dave is quite simply one of the greatest sportswriters in history. What an incalculable loss.
And with that, it's over. Deadspin no longer employs a single writer or editor. I am gutted but so very proud of this group of people.
Deadspin was a good website.
Kickstarter is currently submitted for review!! Let's see what happens. Can't lie I am super excited!! If everyone could spread the word that would be excellent.
@bdeviled11@thelatinochild @drewmagary @Deadspin I am attempting to do exactly that! I am currently working on a kickstarter in order to crowdsource a way to keep all the writers and content that were well loved at the former Deadspin together. We will do it the right way and it will be excellent!! Stay tuned
Here’s something I never thought I’d say: I just quit my dream job at Deadspin.
The last 11 months were the best I’ve ever had, and working with the smartest writers on the internet was a privilege.
@DanielHowley@barry I am attempting to crowdsource that very thing! I have the kickstarter in process and I am trying to organize the writers formerly of Deadspin in order to provide the content that kept us all reading and commenting over the past several years!!
