The Bridge Project serves as an icon to the region and a ‘Bridge to Everywhere’ with its 100-year lifespan. It will represent #LongBeach proudly for decades to come. Thanks to Instagram user pxl8photography for this stunning #FanPhotoFeature!
During construction, the #GDBRPCrew needed to get to the top of the towers—more than 50 stories tall and 500-plus feet in the air. To reach the top, an elevator was attached to each tower to carry the crew to their worksite. Check out this photo from 2016 showing a typical ride.
Our Top Bridge Project Moment was the Opening Ceremony on Oct. 2, 2020, with a live caravan of green trucks, a dramatic vintage aircraft flyover and boat parade that featured water-spouting fireboats and cannon fire from a classic ship. More: https://t.co/tLDcFenTk0

The over-water portion of the bridge was built symmetrically in a technique known as “balanced-cantilever” construction. Segments were added on both sides of a tower at the same time, held aloft by the cables threaded from the top of the tower. #LetsBuildABridge

Our second Top Bridge Project Moment was the Groundbreaking Event on January 8, 2013. One of the highlights of the event was two helicopters that hovered at 500 feet to mark the height of the future towers. Read more: https://t.co/a5oGvOJrYt
