No billboard, no investment summit, no tourism campaign can compete with what people see with their own eyes the moment they land. A dirty airport road tells visitors wrongly that Lagos is chaotic, unserious, and careless with its environment.

The painful part is that this problem is AVOIDABLE.
Airport Road should be one of the most protected, most maintained corridors in the state. Illegal dumping should be impossible there. Waste management should be airtight. Monitoring should be constant.
If we want to be taken seriously on the global stage, then the basics must be respected.
You don’t welcome guests through a dirty front door.
The question is simple:
If we cannot keep the road that welcomes the world into Lagos clean, what message are we truly sending about who we are?

This is Ojuelegba Bridge.
The bridge is dangerous.
There is no proper railing system, and the old one that broke during the last container accident has still not been replaced.
This means one thing:
every day, people cross this bridge exposed to danger.
Containers have fallen here before.
Lives have been lost.
Yet nothing has changed.
How many more accidents will it take?
How many more lives must be lost before the right authority fixes this bridge?
Or are our lives not important enough?
This is not about blame.
This is about safety.
This is about human lives.

Ikoyi is known as one of the richest and most exclusive neighbourhoods in Nigeria. It has luxury homes, big offices, and high property values. But the environment tells a different story.
There are open drainage channels along the roads. Many gutters are filled with dirt, stagnant water, and waste. In some places, the smell from these drains is strong and unpleasant.
This leads to an important question:
If Ikoyi one of the wealthiest areas in the country, can have open drains, dirty gutters, and bad odour, what would we find in places with fewer resources like Okokomaiko, Sangotedo, or Ikotun?
Clean and well-maintained drainage is not about luxury. It is about health, safety, and proper city management.
