@CatherinePhilly@BonesMa79359038@bruce_mcgonigal@ThomBrady5 I’m not sure whom exactly you want to target, then, but others in the thread clearly mean all non-Whites (what else is 30% of US?). I just want to deport illegals, pause immigration/naturalization, remove criminals, and pay/pressure paper citizens who won’t assimilate to leave.
@rruetigger@memeticsisyphus Israel actually has a very high birth rate, precisely because of strong pride in their ethnostate. Whereas in the U.S, both Jews and Whites just feel guilty for their “White privilege”. We need to be more like Israelis and promote a unified culture that celebrates our history!
@memeticsisyphus I also feel like children have ZERO problem saying no when they don’t like something! Don’t hug your kid when he’s grumpy, sure, but teaching him about affirmative consent only serves to suggest that he CAN say yes to any physical touch, which is wrong and bad.
@Lor2ie@memeticsisyphus You started with “consent matters at every age”. That implies that you think there’s a conceptual connection between adult sexual consent and consent as applied to children.
@politicalmath I think if the witches are literally bearing political messages it’s a different situation. Obviously it makes no sense to kick out the peaceful demonstrators and tolerate their violent opponents, but “bash the ideological opposition” is a different drive from “bash the witch”.
@autistic_campus@memeticsisyphus I mean, some of the Cornell 7 have fled the whole country. I feel like a more thorough examination of the case is required to conclude guilt.
@mattyglesias This is a silly controversy. Trump wasn’t even talking about a Jew! It’s GOOD for “Shylock” to shift to refer to anyone who is like the Shakespeare character rather than only Jews. The neurotic ADL is essentially saying that its power as a slur must be preserved.
@joshuaprichards@RichardHanania@herandrews@JDVance@elonmusk Elon Musk is an interesting counterexample to Trump’s vindictiveness. He seems pretty bitter towards Clinton, Harris, Biden, Pence, and everyone he fired during his first admin. Vance was never a big enemy, and RFK suspended his campaign when Trump wanted him to.
@ShineboxHukster@RichardHanania@herandrews The original post was suggesting the reverse! The simplest explanation is that both sides currently see their opponents as really quite evil.
@PredictitD@RichardHanania@herandrews True, he didn’t end up prosecuting her after asymmetrically having promised to, and he gave a token congratulations, but his rhetoric towards her has continued to be vicious. The general point is plausible, but Trump is a clear exception.
@MikeGranby@RichardHanania@herandrews It seems like he has never made up with Democrats or Republicans who opposed him in a general election or denied that 2020 was stolen. It certainly wasn’t in his interest to victim-blame Rob Reiner for driving his son to murder him by hating Trump too much!
@RennersHere@RichardHanania@herandrews For one, various news outlets. He also famously called for Clinton to be prosecuted before the election without a reciprocal threat.
@FrancesJaneB@RichardHanania@herandrews So maybe the gender dynamics aren’t the key factor here? Both sides see their enemies as deeply evil, so they want to crush them totally, regardless of whatever natural inclinations their gender gives them.
@RuckerCulpepper@RichardHanania@herandrews Vance criticized him, Rubio ran against him, but they weren’t major foes. Trump has only harsh condemnations for Harris, Clinton, Pence, and really any current Democratic politician except for Mamdani, whom he simply likes for his personality.
