Iṣẹṣe Day is primarily a religious and cultural observance for adherents of Yorùbá Traditional Religion, including devotees of Ifá, Ògún, Ṣàngó, Ọ̀ṣun and other traditional religious expressions. Their right to commemorate their beliefs and traditions should be respected, and Muslims should neither insult nor unjustly interfere with their peaceful observance.

At the same time, Yorùbá Muslims have no religious obligation or reason to participate in Iṣẹṣe Day celebrations or in rituals and activities that are specifically connected with traditional religious worship. Respect for the religious freedom of others does not require participation in their religious ceremonies.

A Muslim can therefore maintain good neighbourliness, peaceful coexistence and respect for fellow Yorùbá people of other faiths while remaining firmly committed to Islam. Religious tolerance does not mean theological conformity or participation in another religion's acts of devotion.

In short: we respect their right to celebrate Iṣẹṣe Day, just as we expect our own religious observances to be respected, but Yorùbá Muslims should respectfully abstain from its religious celebrations and rituals.
