#Rasfannubeach is contaminated by untreated sewage from mainly three nearby sewage outlets.
The serious ecological issue is heavy metals from photo labs and medical laboratories draining into marine ecosystems; these heavy metals don't decompose easily. The fear is they can end up on our dinner plates via the food chain.
Malé's primary wastewater infrastructure relies on multiple untreated sewage outfalls that dump domestic waste directly into the ocean.
The combination of untreated sewage discharges at Rasfannu Beach and heavy metal bioaccumulation in the marine food chain represents a major environmental and public health crisis.
During the South West Monsoon (Hulhagu), which blows intensely from the west/southwest, strong winds and shifting oceanic currents push the expelled, untreated plumes of human waste directly back into the shallow swimming lagoons of #Rasfannu.
Even though during the North-East Monsoon (Iruvaa), the current and wind reverse, fungus-infested, undigested chili seeds and betel nuts float #Rasfannu area like schools of fish. #Malecity #maldives #blueeconomy

We are not asking to be rescued. We are telling you the water reaches everyone in the end. Yours has simply arrived as heat, a little sooner than you expected.
