In 2022, Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi set out to transform Early Childhood Development Education, which was grappling with poor infrastructure.
That dream under the pillar “Leave No Child Behind”, has since transformed into a remarkable achievement.
Within 3 years, 512 ECDE centres were constructed, offering modern PP1 and PP2 facilities that compete with private academies, a transformation that resonates with Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Quality Education.
A robust feeding programme now offers daily uji, eggs, and weekly "Maziwa Freshi na Wamatangi”, raising enrollment from 32,000 to 50,000. Learners also get free learning material.
