The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt issued a press release.

Egypt opposes any measures that could undermine Somali sovereignty. Moreover, Egypt underscores the necessity of respecting the objectives outlined in the Constitutive Law of the African Union. This includes defending the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of member states, in alignment with the Union's principles, which emphasize the need to respect existing borders after achieving independence and refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of other member states."

The only Internationally recognized sovereign Somali Government with powers to contract is the Federal Republic of Somalia with Mogadishu as its seat of Government. PM Abiy representing the Federal Government of Ethiopia cannot sign a deal with a regional state. That is a sure recipe for a conflict in HOA. I had a lot of faith in PM Abiy ability to create durable peace in the HOA. Unfortunately hopes for HOA peace and economic integration are increasingly in peril. AU’s charter forbids secessions & respects the inviolability of the territorial integrity of all member States. This is a dangerous move for the Region and the wider continent. TPLF/Meles lost big time because of such reckless adventurism. The Somali Nation & the never accept such transgression.
