What will RI do to improve their "worst state to start a biz" status? Bills in labor committee demanding a 32 hr work week or require OT pay, limiting self-checkouts, & encouraging frivolous workplace lawsuits certainly will not help.

Bill being heard prohibits RI stores, bars, restaurants from selling liquid beverages if sugar content isn't reduced by 50% by 2030. That means milk, beer, wine, frozen lemonade... even baby formula. This would hurt RI biz & create shortages for consumers https://t.co/KT9TudkQq5

Most #smallbiz are pass-thru entities, meaning they file their taxes as individuals. A 3% surtax will mean less money to invest in the biz. It also means higher taxes for an owner when they retire & sell their #smallbiz. https://t.co/vrW6rNa4v0

It’s part of why RI continues to drop in national biz ranking as lawmakers make it more expensive to do business.

Testifying today opposing legislation raising the state #minwage up to $22/hr, eliminate the tipped wage, while supporting an effort to eliminate outlier premium pay laws for RI #smallbiz.

Disappointing that budget does not include @GovDanMcKee proposals for sales, gas or Min corp tax relief to assist struggling #smallbiz. All 3 tax cuts would help Main St biz & consumers who dealt w/months of prolonged inflation.

Testified this afternoon in S Labor Committee against bills calling for a $21 min wage, opposed legislation making it harder to be self-employed & against a proposal that would open RI employers to frivolous lawsuits.

Strongly support bills (H5800 & H6014) calling for tangible tax exemption being heard in House Finance tonight. This onerous tax not only creates a paperwork burden for #smallbiz, but also discourages the purchase of new equipment. @JoeShekarchi @repmcentee33

Listening to lawmakers debate sales tax reduction in H Finance. The sales tax is an incredibly regressive tax. In these times of high inflation, saving money is important to RI residents & #smallbiz. Cutting taxes is important to make RI more competitive.

Very supportive of @GovDanMcKee proposal to cut Biz Corporations Min Tax to $375. This is an unfair tax on biz w/o regard to whether they actually made a profit or not during the year. This tax cut proposal is another step in the right direction.

Automated checkouts are convenient for consumers. RI offers online/automated ways to pay bills or renew licenses, why penalize grocery stores? Automation often occurs when it becomes too expensive to create/maintain jobs. https://t.co/SEYbTtLPib
