With everything happening, are you feeling left out New York? We got you... Today SAF and its partners filed yet another new lawsuit, this time challenging New York's freshly enacted Glock ban.
Earlier in the year New York joined the short list of states that have attempted to sidestep the demands of the Constitution and the Supreme Court by banning Glock and Glock platform handguns from sale in the entire state.
The Second Amendment protects all arms in common use, and the Supreme Court has already expressly held that it protects handguns, and yet New York lawmakers were convinced by anti-gun lobbyists that somehow - some way - banning one of the most popular and common handgun platforms in the country was a good idea. Today they learn it was not.
Mass deportations. End the Welfare State. Avoid pointless foreign wars in the Mid East (or anywhere). There are other smaller things you can do policy wise to help with affordability, but do these things and the crisis ends. Take them off the table and the problem isn’t fixable.
Obviously young men should take responsibility and work hard no matter the difficulties.
OBVIOUSLY.
But it is equally obvious that seeking political solutions to the completely avoidable difficulties is necessary.
This requires more than scolding.
Yes, we generally are much more prosperous and comfortable than our great grandparents. We are much more prosperous and comfortable than people in third world countries. That’s true. It’s also an incredibly unpersuasive and irrelevant answer to the affordability crisis.
You would not be satisfied with ineffective and counterproductive medical treatments just because it’s still better than the treatments your ancestors received. You would not be satisfied with a car that only goes 20 miles an hour just because it’s still faster than the horse and buggy your great great grandpa drove around. You would not be satisfied with a house with a leaky roof just because it at least shields you from the elements better than the mud hut African tribesmen live in.
We are an advanced modern first world country. We are supposed to be the greatest country in the world. That’s the standard we should hold ourselves to. And in that country — not an African country, not a country in 1887 — a working man should be able to afford a house and groceries. That’s not entitlement. It’s not expecting the government to solve everything for us. It doesn’t mean that those things should be provided via government program. It’s just simply the most basic imaginable standard. If we’re falling short of it — and we are — then we need to figure out why, and how to fix it. It’s that simple. This really shouldn’t be controversial.
New rule: if you say "all gun laws are unconstitutional," I'm going to immediately ask you why you believe that child rapists who completed their prison sentence should be able to buy a gun right after release.
You might respond: "Well child rapists should never get out of prison!"
Hey, I agree! I'd hang them like the founders did most violent criminals. Sadly, that's not what we're doing as a society, so again: should they be allowed to buy guns upon release?
If you'd like a less extreme example: Should a 12 year old be able to buy a gun and bring it to school? Because if *all* gun laws are unconstitutional, any law blocking that would be too.
*Most* modern gun laws are unconstitutional, but not all. We should stop dealing in silly memes that no one actually believes if they think about it for like 5 seconds. Worse, they make the whole movement look unserious. We become the caricature of ourselves that antigunners are trying to make the public think we are.
A big reason I got on Twitter in the first place years ago was getting tired of argument by slogan, so just coming back to my roots here. 🤣
The Democrat Party has no leader, no agenda for our nation except to take our money and use it to resettle the foreigners they need to win elections, and their establishment and socialist wings are actively tearing each other apart.
