@phlegmatticus@Pontifex No-- I don't see in the pope's statements about world cultures any reference to Christianity, let alone what is happening in Nigeria.
My point is that equivocation on cultures ignores the reality that Islamic culture is butchering Christians by the tens of thousands per year.
@RandPaul For the love of pizza, please get off the "free trade" bus.
Most nations of the world (including ours AT OUR FOUNDING) used tariffs to protect domestic trades important to the country. Unilateral economic disarmament didn't help the US-- it eviscerated its industrial core.
@Cat_Guevara42@Pontifex I think you're missing the point-- you popped off an unsubstantiated claim, and I retorted an unsubstantiated denial of your claim.
If you want to have a real debate about the history of Christianity in Nigeria, please feel free to present your evidence.
@Cat_Guevara42@Pontifex Your claims do not automatically make them true, either-- which is why I chose not to debate you, but simply claim the contrary.
@Xtopher_Uzo I think you misunderstand my point. Christian influence on diverse cultures has been a boon to human flourishing, and cultural distinctives can remain edifying.
But the systemic Islamic murder of Nigerian Christians reveals that not all cultures are equally good.
@armondboudreaux I have the same challenge in our remote part of Montana with pictures of sunrises and sunsets. The globe of the sky is so vast, the color progressions so vivid, that even if I had an IMAX camera, I couldn't capture all that beauty.
God is indeed the greatest of artists.
@shebringsjoy The OP premise has been proven demonstrably wrong for as long as people would look at the objective evidence.
Rich people commit crime, too; cf. the US Congress, NGOs, political and celebrity family dynasties, and corporate C-Suites.
As The Man said, evil comes from within.
@RevFisk@TRobinsonNewEra Veterans of the GWOT know there's a fourth option regarding a civilization not desirous of Islam's three choices under their pagan tyranny.
And there are several million of us here who won't bend the knee to Baal, even when the ammunition is all expended and barrels all melted.
Ah, a political aspirant who is beginning to understand the spiritual realities of our time:
The western societies which are collapsing now are downstream of collapsed churches which once held the darkness at bey.
To rebuild the west, we must rebuild the Church.
I hate to be this cynical, but I’ll be honest…running for Mayor exposes you to things that make you believe the city is actually being overtaken by demonic energy. Drive south Fig at night. Go to 6th and San Pedro. You see children openly prostituting, drug zombies setting dogs and cats on fire, babies born to crackheads and tossed in a dumpster, dead people just lying in the streets…that’s not even to mention the dozen neighbors of ours who burned alive in what is now a crumbled hellscape.
Many times I wondered if the city’s problems weren’t beyond the reach of any politician’s capacity to actually fix. There is a cultural and spiritual rot that can’t be fixed at the ballot box. Until we fix the culture, we are kinda just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic and the shit we shovel around every 4 years doesn’t really mean a thing.
@TheLastRefuge2 Funny thing, too—China tends not to have riots, either.
As with Mao’s revolution, the riots only continue until totalitarian power is achieved, then every pretense of rebellion is crushed like Tiananmen Square.
These communist riots need to be shut down in the West immediately.
@lazibe28 The wisdom of whom to help is guided by vocation and the needs of one’s neighbors. Scripture notes that help starts within the Church, then to the stranger and sojourner.
An industrialized missionary complex often overlooks the simple needs in our own communities.
@RandPaul For Americans, government is unworthy of citizen trust.
On the contrary, the government must prove itself to the citizens every day, in every act, and in every duty.
Thus, an election which cannot be proven legitimate by the government, is in fact illegitimate to the citizens.
@JimJawja Well, I'd argue some previous elections were less significant in their potential outcomes... various debates about tax percentages and public services, knowing both parties still loved America.
The last decade, it's gotten way more serious, with one party trying to destroy us.
@Sinnersaint39 Yep-- and that carried over into the 70's and 80's public education on the west coast, too.
I think many rural public schools held out longer than the urban ones, but they are almost all terrible now. No one who loves their children should surrender them to Marxists.
@AWRHawkins@BreitbartNews Properly perforated violent criminals have a zero percentage recidivism rate.
And they can't vote as a criminal constituency for criminal politicians, either.
