"There’s no point now banging on about behaviour and behaviour tsars. You can’t teach children to behave better by making them feel shit. It doesn’t work." Well said Anna Maxwell Martin.

@BBCBreakfast 9. And more efforts made to support them. My children have been removed from the education system for reasons that we may share publicly once we’ve sought legal advice. There are serious flaws in the education system, since academisation, but yet the focus is on things like this.
@BBCBreakfast 8. Then let’s consider the impact that poverty can have on parents and children. No emotional or psychological safety, potentially struggling to have a permanent shelter, food, heat, water… trauma. There needs to better acknowledgement of the real reasons impacting families…
@BBCBreakfast 7. And thinking about the breakdown of the family through poverty. Families who both have to work full time, for example, are not going to have the same opportunities to directly support their children in the way a family who can afford for a parent to stay at home can.
@BBCBreakfast 6. And I feel that if we are expecting children to start attending school at such young ages, we should be prepared to support and reinforce these things at school… working in partnership with parents. I also think that context is important… beyond neurodivergence for example,
@BBCBreakfast 5. I remember colleagues at the time saying it shouldn’t be our job as teachers to ‘teach’ these skills, and I agreed at the time. But experience has altered my stance. Apart from the minority who don’t feel it’s their job, most parents are trying (such a parent blaming culture)
@BBCBreakfast 4. I am a teacher and have taught from Reception to Year 7. I remember children not coming in ‘school ready’. Some just didn’t seem developmentally ready… which leads me to understand why some other countries don’t expect children to attend until 7 or 8…
@BBCBreakfast 3. Recognise bodily sensations, they may experience coordination difficulties… and this has nothing to do with parental input. As a parent, I know I’ve had to explicitly teach skills that many children naturally pick up… but there are still delays and difficulties.
@BBCBreakfast 2. But there are legitimate reasons as to why many won’t be ‘school ready’. As an example, my children are autistic/PDA and between them have sensory difficulties, dyspraxia, Tourette’s and ADHD, plus other co-existing conditions. This can affect toileting as they might not…
@BBCBreakfast 1. This is so complex and nuanced… but coming from the stance of neurodivergence, a lot of our children have developmental delays and other difficulties from a range of co-existing conditions. I don’t believe the current education system is right for our children anyway…
Social Skills Training and the 'evidence base'. Let's say the intervention was effective, however, If the goals are to reduce 'autism symptoms', to 'overcome aloofness and rigidity', and are based on the mindblindness theory, then I'm not interested in the data.

Has Mogg gone? If so, I’m cracking open a bottle of fizz - I’ll never forget the image of him lying across the seats in parliament. Privileged arrogance that disrespected the office of state and the people. It’s about service not ego.
Dear 🇬🇧,
In 2024, it’s time to pick a side. Either you stand with a corrupt govt engineering the collapse of your health system, or you're with NHS workers as we fight back against the greatest assault on the NHS in its 75 years. I know exactly where I stand. Do you?

I wonder why the Telegraph reviewed Dr Julia @JujuliaGrace book badly?
Could it be because it's about the creeping PRIVATISATION of the NHS?
Give Julia some love today🙏🏼 ❤️
She established @EveryDoctorUK showing MPs donations from private healthcare firms. Worth a follow 👍🏼
