@LJF90 I think that the existence of Cryptopunks was not the catalyst, and that few people now remember they were distributed for the cost of gas. But as soon as they started to trade for thousands/millions of dollars, then came the tidal wave of PFPs trying to cash in on the trend.

It's interesting to take the analogy further to think about the different blockchains each as books; how they differ in size, ease of use, content, etc. Not all books stand the test of time, but some change the world.

A blockchain is a digital ledger, which can be thought of as a shared, distributed book where new pages can be added but none can be torn out.

We are all writing the history.
