Zama Public Auction – Simple & Seamless Explanation

@zama upcoming token sale isn’t a typical crypto launch. They’re using a sealed-bid Dutch auction where all bids stay private and encrypted by their own FHE technology. This removes all the usual chaos: no one can see your bid, no price manipulation, no gas wars, no mempool bots, and no FOMO chasing. Everything is fully confidential, and all tokens you win will be unlocked.

Here’s how it works:

1. What’s happening?
Zama is selling 10% of the $ZAMA supply. The auction runs from January 12 to 15, and you can claim tokens on January 20.

2. Phase 1 — Shield your stablecoins (before Jan 12)
You can’t bid with regular USDC, USDT, or DAI. First, you need to “shield” them on Ethereum, turning them into ERC-7984 confidential stablecoins. Shielding hides your balance and transfers but doesn’t lock your funds — you can still use them normally. Tip: shield a bit extra to cover gas.
3. Phase 2 — Place your bids (Jan 12–15)
Each bid has a public price and a private amount. You can create multiple bids, edit them, or cancel anytime. No gas battles and no sniping. Prices move in $0.005 steps, with a floor at a $55M FDV.

4. Phase 3 — Clearing price (Jan 16–19)
When bidding ends, all bids are sorted from highest to lowest. The lowest price that still gets tokens becomes the clearing price. If you bid above it, you receive your full allocation and get refunded the difference. If you bid exactly at the clearing price, you may receive a proportional share. If you bid below it, you get a full refund.

5. Phase 4 — Claim on Jan 20
You’ll claim your fully unlocked $ZAMA and your refund (either regular ERC-20 or confidential ERC-7984). You can immediately use the token for encryption fees, staking, delegating, or running operators.

Bonus — Extra 2% Fixed-Price Sale
After the auction, another 2% of the supply will be available at the same clearing price, with a $10k per-person limit, giving retail one more fair chance.

Quick Example:
If 1,000 tokens are for sale and Alice bids $5 for 400, Bob bids $4 for 600, and Charlie bids $3 for 300, the clearing price becomes $4. Alice gets 400 and a refund of the extra she bid, while Bob gets 600. Charlie gets nothing but is fully refunded.
