We are your “leaders” simply because you elected us to be in positions of authority. Truth of the matter is, the ultimate leaders in a society are the people.

The people delegate their power to a few to be in decision making bodies like Municipal Councils and Parliament. That doesn’t change the fact that the people in these positions are given power by the people and must exercise that public power in a manner that advances the interests of the people and must always be answerable to the public.

When we go to the elections in November, remember to vote for your SERVANTS. Do not vote for BOSSES that do not sympathise with your struggles and view something as a problem only when it affects them personally.

What insults education is the spectacle of people waving qualifications around like holy scripture while abandoning the very principles education is supposed to teach; curiosity, scepticism and critical inquiry. You have reduced academia to a caste system where ordinary people must bow before self appointed intellectual aristocrats. The moment evidence emerges from outside your approved circles, you dismiss it as ignorance. That is not scholarship.

Every major discovery began as an observation someone deemed unworthy, anecdotal or inconvenient and then graduated into a null hypothesis. The difference between a researcher and an ideologue is that the researcher investigates; the ideologue sneers.

The irony is that many of the people you are calling ignorant possess qualifications equal to or greater than those of the academics like yourself pontificating on social media. PhDs. MBChBs . Attorneys.Advocates. Professors. Chartered Accountants. Yet unlike the academic frauds infesting public discourse, they understand that a qualification is evidence of study, not evidence of omniscience.

Education does not need protection from ordinary citizens asking questions. It needs protection from credential obsessed gatekeepers who have mistaken arrogance for intelligence and conformity for scholarship. The greatest threat to education is not ignorance, it is the intellectual imposters who hide behind titles because they can no longer defend their ideas on merit, and that is you Ndlozi!
