Tim Wanyonyi Wetangula is the Member of Parliament for Westlands Constituency in Nairobi, currently serving his third consecutive term after winning elections in 2013, 2017, and 2022.
Known for his calm demeanor, development-focused leadership, and aversion to political controversy, Wanyonyi was raised in abject poverty as the seventh child in Bungoma County.

Despite these early financial hardships, which forced him to repeat classes to help his siblings get an education, he went on to study law at the University of Delhi and completed his postgraduate diploma at the Kenya School of Law.

A turning point in Wanyonyi's life occurred in 1998 when, as a young lawyer and father, he was shot during a carjacking incident in Ngara, Nairobi. The attack resulted in a permanent spinal cord injury that confined him to a wheelchair for life.
Following rigorous rehabilitation in Brussels and supported heavily by his wife, Electina Naswa, Wanyonyi overcame the initial frustrations of workplace discrimination by founding his own law firm, Timothy Wanyonyi and Company Advocates, and establishing the Kenya Paraplegic Organization to advocate for others with disabilities.

Wanyonyi entered active politics in 2008 when he was nominated as a councillor to the Nairobi City Council under the ODM party, laying the groundwork for his successful parliamentary career.

Beyond his political and legal achievements, he is a prominent businessman who owns three high-end hospitality resorts in western Kenya: Hunters Paradise Cottages, Hunters Paradise Tuuti, and the Wanangali Sports Club.
Backed by several local lawmakers, he has set his sights on local leadership by launching a bid for the Bungoma gubernatorial seat.
